Saturday 20th March 2010 Luton
Borough Dragons Whites 3 Sacred Heart 1
(League Division 2)
Borough started well in wet and windy weather conditions.
Rakeem created an early opening shaking off three tackles but the keeper beat
Jake to his cross. The teams seemed equally matched in the opening ten minutes,
both trying to go forwards but having any opportunities snuffed out quite quickly. Harry
& Harrison each keeping tight to their man.
With six minutes left in the half, Sacred Heart managed
to catch Boro with a three versus two break. James, came off his line quickly
and booted the ball clear – well into the opponents half, catching their defence by surprise. Jake chased the ball but appeared to be heading out of the penalty box towards the corner.
Thinking quickly, he managed to knock the ball back into the middle but his cross come shot was on target and snuck
under the keeper into the goal!
Good battling by the Dragons created another half chance – Jake took
a shot, when Matthew was slightly better placed, but his shot was saved by the keeper.
Pushing forward again Boro won a corner, which was taken short to Harry. He
passed it back to Matthew who crossed into the box. Joseph
bought the ball down, side stepped his marker and stabbed the ball home to make it 2-0 with 18 minutes
played.
Rakeem had a run down the left straight from the kick off and whipped in a quick cross but Jake
couldn’t get to it as it went across the face of goal. Sacred Heart responded with a break through
the middle, found themselves two on one but James made a good save with his legs to protect the two goal advantage.
A moment later Boro made it three when Rakeem’s cross after a pacy run down the
left found Jake unmarked a couple of metres out and he slotted it home. HT 3-0.
Sacred Heart had the wind
behind them in the second half as the rain began to fall more heavily. They had a good attempt in the first
minute but their shot was straight at James who held the ball well. Harrison was getting to the ball first and giving the strikers no room but Boro were being pegged back
in their own half. Rakeem managed to bring the ball out on one occasion but
was pulled down. After 5 minutes Sacred Heart won a throw in the middle of the park. Their
midfielder hoofed the ball forwards and the wind carried it further towards goal - it bounced in front of and then over James. Reacting quickly his outstretched hand knocked the ball onto the underside
of the bar but the ball hit him on the back of the legs & went in.
Finding it difficult against the wind, Boro had a chance from
James’s deep goal kick. Rakeem started & finished a great passing
move involving Lucas, Joe & Matthew
but his low shot was saved by the keeper. With 4 minutes remaining Rakeem
was scythed down by a Sacred Heart defender, who hurt himself in the process. He took the free kick from
the left and it narrowly missed the far post. Rakeem then had a fantastic
run, beating a number of Sacred Heart players and Boro looked certain to score from his excellent cross as Joe,
Matthew & Lucas were in the middle. Matthew had the shot, when Joe was slightly better placed but his shot
incredibly went back across goal, when it looked easier to score!
Harrison made a couple of timely tackles
when Sacred Heart threatened but Boro were finishing the game strongly. In injury time Rakeem
ran from his own half, lost his boot in a tackle but still managed to take the ball round the defender and get a shot on target
before the ref blew for full time.
The win was well deserved and took meant that Boro leapfrogged over Sacred Heart to take second place
on goal difference.

Saturday 27th February 2010 Sundon Park
Rangers 1 Luton Borough Dragons Whites 4 (League
Division 2)
Boro got off to a fantastic start when Rakeem cut in from a run down the left flank and slotted
the ball home in the first minute. Just after Matthew had a shot just wide and Joe was unlucky not to get to Rakeem's cross. Sundon did venture
into the Boro half to win a corner but Harrison cleared to Rakeem who
ran up the other end and hit the post. Joe created an opportunity with a nice
turn, Rakeem had a couple of shots and Lucas had a
looping header just over.
Boro looked certain to grab a second after 8 minutes when
the keeper's goal kick fell straight to Rakeem who carried it back into the box. Unfortunately
both Joe and Lucas went for
his cross together and Lucas could only push it the wrong side of the post.
Boro were dominating the game but could not convert possession into goals. Rakeem had a
fantastic run and his stinging shot was destined for the near post top corner until the keeper managed to get a hand to it.
With a minute of the first half to go Sundon Park had a rare attack which the Boro
defence failed to clear despite several attempts. Sundon got one lad free and he steered it past James
to equalise very much against the run of play. HT: 1-1
The opening few minutes of the
second half was a different story however, with Sundon keeping Boro pegged back into their own penalty area. They would
have taken the lead but for some good work by James in goal, who kicked clear and also made a
fine save. Boro composed themselves after a few minues with Rakeem breaking forwards and
passing to Matthew out wide. He crossed it in to Joseph
who took a couple of touches before shooting but unfortunately it was right at the keeper.
Midway
through the second period Rakeem made another blistering run forwards and had Charlotte in
support. He chose to go all the way on his own, cut in and fired a low shot past the keeper to make it 2-1.
Rakeem then tried an overhead kick from a corner and the ball fell to Joseph who drilled his shot wide. Matthew cut out a ball
in the middle and made a good run down the right; he made a bit of time and had a cheeky shot which the goalkeeper managed
to fumble wide as Charlotte and Rakeem ran in.
A good tackle by Joseph in the middle of the park was kept in play up by Luca, who had replaced Harry during the break. He pushed it down the left channel to Rakeem who
quickly crossed it in for Matthew to have a shot. The keeper fumbled and it fell to Charlotte to stab it over the line to
make it 3-1 after 15 minutes.
A minute later Joseph won the ball outside the Sundon area and launched an unstoppable shot into the top corner
to make it 4-1. Boro could have extended their lead just before the end but for a good save by the keeper
after a nice Matthew, Rakeem, Charlotte move.

Saturday 6th February
2010 Eaton Bray Lions Blues 4
Luton
Borough Dragons Whites 3 (League Division 2)
Boro started the match brightly on a cold, foggy morning. In the early stages, Rakeem put
a nice cross in from the left for Lucas to shoot but it was blocked by the defender. Eaton
Bray had a chance but it was deflected out for a corner by Harrison. Rakeem
hade a long run through midfield after 4 minutes but saw his attempt go just wide. Eaton Bray had a run down
the wing but Orkum covered back well and Harrison
cleared. It was end to end stuff - Lucas had a shot and then Bray countered but
the move broke down.
Rakeem picked
up the ball in his own half and ran it down to the left side of the Bray box. With several defenders on him, he ran
it back into the middle but was tackled. He fought hard for the ball and won it back, turned his man, took a step
to the right and placed a firm shot past the keeper. 1-0 after 7 minutes.
A minute
later Bray had a break through the middle, their striker got past Harry ran the ball into the
area and his shot went into the goal off James' legs. 1-1.
Shortly after Boro attacked down the left with Lucas and Matthew combining
well to cross for Rakeem in the middle to steer the ball past the keeper into the net.
2-1 11 mins. Boro were having a good spell and added to their lead a minute later. Rakeem's run
won a corner which was taken short to Harry, he passed it to Matthew who had a rasping shot from the left hand edge across the keeper into the net. 3-1
after 12 minutes.
After 14 minutes Bray had an attack down the left which Harrison should
have put out for a throw. Instead he won the ball and tried to pass it inside but it went straight to a Bray player
who was unmarked and he cut the deficit to 3-2. Within minutes, Rakeem's had
a run from his own half and hit the post.
In first half injury, time Boro lost posession
in their own half giving Bray a three against two advantage. A quick pass put their big striker in and he took
his chance to leave it all square at half time. HT 3-3.
Eaton Bray started the 2nd
period in much better form, with Harrison and Matthew cutting
out opportunities. Boro were struggling to get out of their own half and had to defend several well organised corners,
requiring James to punch clear on one occasion. Charlotte
found herself clear in the Bray box on a rare Boro attack, but the keeper saved her shot with his legs.
After 10 minutes of the second half Harrison took a ball in the face and had to go off to be replaced by Luca.
Bray used the resulting corner well with players running into the box losing their markers. Boro
failed to clear and a Bray player poked the ball into the roof of the Boro net from close range to make it 3-4.
Spurred on by losing a two goal lead, Boro created a couple of chances with Rakeem's tricky runs down both the left & right, the later giving Charlotte
a shooting opportunity but it was blocked by the defender. Boro continued to search for the equaliser - Rakeem's had a shot over from the edge of the area and Matthew had
a shot saved on the line. Joseph pushed up from defence and had a shot blocked and Charlotte missed her kick allowing Bray to clear just as the referee blew the final whistle.
A very good game with Boro a little unfortunate not to get a share of the spoils.

Dragons Whites 8
Crawley Green Kites
1 (League Division
2)
Boro made a lively start to the match following a long layoff due to the snow either side of the Christmas break.
Pressuring Crawley, they were soon ahead through an own goal. Rakeem doubled
the lead with a goal a few minutes later.
Boro were moving the ball around nicely, controlling
midfield with Matthew & Luca passing well.
Crawley chances were limited but they did break forward and James made a good save and
was quickly on his feet for the rebound which went wide.
Almost straight away, Rakeem
finished off a nice passing move with a low shot to make it 3-0 after 12 minutes. Boro dominated and on the rare occassion
that Crawley got into the Boro half Harrison tidied up efficiently as Harry
pushed forward. However, just before half time, Crawley caught Boro on the break, Harry got
in a tackle but the ball ran kindly for them and they scored into the bottom corner of James'
goal. HT: 3-1.
Immediately from the restart Rakeem had
a shot just past the post and Boro forced a couple of quick corners. Orkun, on as
a sub for his first appearance of the season, combined well down the left and put over a great cross. The
goalie could only palm the ball down and Jake, also on as a 2nd half sub, poked the ball
over the line to restore the three goal advantage.
Orkun turned
his marker and threaded a lovely ball through to Rakeem but his shot went across the face of
goal. Crawley pumped a long ball into the Boro half winning a free kick on the edge of the area but James again made a good save. Rakeem intercepted
a throw in his own penalty area and dribbled past several players into the Crawley half. He had passing options
with Jake and Lucas free ahead of him but kept going.
Orkun picked up the ball from him on the edge of the box and drilled a shot into the bottom
corner to make it 5-1.
A few minutes later Rakeem had a run
down the left this time and his shot was parried by the keeper. It fell to Lucas
in front of goal who passed it to Jake for an easy tap in on the line. 6-1.
Rakeem hit the post and Jake scuffed a shot wide before Rakeem claimed
his hat-trick with a low shot. With only a few minutes of the match left Boro were pushing forward looking for
another goal but Crawley caught them on the break and had four players free. With Harry and Harrison in pursuit the Crawley striker
got a shot in but it was saved brilliantly by James.
Harry picked up the ball just inside the Crawley half, beat a player and took it down the left
flank. He whipped in a lovely near post cross which the defence failed to deal with and it fell to Jake
to stab home from less than a yard out for his hat-trick. 8-1.
In the last minute
Harry and Harrison went
up to try to get on the score sheet. Harry had a shot saved and Harrison went up for a corner which proved to be the last attempt of
the game.

more accustomed to playing in goal, came on as a substitue in attack mid-way through the second half and scored to make it

played very well in goal earning the Man of the Match to follow the Coaches Award from last match. Harrison

Luton
Borough Dragons Whites 2 Luton United 4 (U9 League Cup - Group D)
Dragons
created the first chance of the game when James’s mis-hit shot from a Rakeem’s
lovely though ball was deflected wide. James didn’t waste his chance
from the resulting corner as he drilled the ball home in the third minute for his first goal of the season.
Luton United equalised two minutes later when their big number nine
went marauding through the middle. Rakeem tried to make a last ditch tackle
after he had beaten the defence but he still managed to score. Lucas made
a good tackle on the half way line and booted the ball forward. It bounced in front of their goalkeeper
and went over his head – but unluckily it went over the bar too.
United
were very strong and at times too physical and went ahead after 8 minutes when they broke through the Boro defence. Harrison was unlucky when the ball fell to unmarked United player after he made a good challenge, and
the forward slid the ball under an advancing Jake. James
had a half-chance from a Luca cross a minute later but the ball got stuck under his feet and
the shot was weak. United continued to press but the defence held strong.
Rakeem was very unlucky after his well stuck free kick was
beaten out by the United keeper, the ball fell back to him and he saw his second attempt go inches wide of the top right corner
of the net. After Boro won a corner which was headed out to Rakeem who, with
the ball slightly behind him, managed to twist and get a blistering shot on target but it was well saved by the keeper. Half
time 1-2.
At the start of the second half
a United attack was cut out by Harrison and Jake bowled the ball
out to Rakeem. He ran from his own half, past a number of United players and
put his shot across the face of the goal. Jake tried this again a few minutes
later but Rakeem wasn’t ready and United intercepted only to see the ball deflected wide
for a corner. Boro failed to mark well from the corner kick and couldn’t clear which enabled the
United striker to bury the ball in the back of the net. 3-1 to United.
United were on top at this stage and were often first to any loose balls. In
fact, if they weren’t first they won it with tough tackles and strong arm tactics. Boro still had
some fight left in them though, with a counter attack on the half hour, which saw Luca &
Lucas combine before Luca had a good shot fumbled by the keeper
into the net. 3-2.
A minute
later United won a throw in the Boro half which found it’s way to their number seven who launched a rocket into the
top left hand corner of the net, giving Jake no chance. 4-2.
United continued to threaten and were strong in midfield. Harrison made
several key tackles to prevent them extending their lead. The referee had to talk to several of their players
for off the ball fouls and pushes on our boys, which spoilt an otherwise nearly well matched game. It was
a shame to see this at U9 level as they were a good footballing side. They had a couple of chances in the
closing stages but the Boro defence kept them out and in the final minute Boro nearly closed the gap to one goal as Rakeem’s free kick was only just fumbled off the line.

Saturday 19th September 2009 Luton Borough
Dragons Whites 2 Sundon Park Rangers Blues 1 (U9 League Cup - Group D)
Dragons
started brightly and within 2 minutes Lucas shot across the face of goal from a Rakeem
cross. Sundon responded as their players raced forward from a throw in but Jake smothered
the resulting cross.
Some good build up play
by Boro’ resulted in James & Rakeem going for the same
ball, however, Rakeem got the shot in first and it crept just wide.
With the defence being little troubled by Sundon, Harrison covered at the back allowing
Harry to push up. After 9 minutes Lucas had a
shot saved and he created another great chance with a good interchange with Harry. Rakeem
had another attempt but after his shot was blocked, the ball fell to Lucas to end the move he
started, but his shot hit the post!
Harry & Lucas combined again with the Sundon keeper saving well from
Lucas’s shot. Rakeem then had a good run after 15 mins, taking
the ball around the keeper who managed to get a hand to the ball to push around the post. Lucas
then found himself in space from the resulting corner but crucially missed his kick. Boro’ had a
further two chances to take the lead just before half time - Rakeem had a shot saved by the keeper
and Lucas shot over the bar from the resulting corner. When the referee blew
the whistle for half time most of the supporters wondered how Boro’ weren’t ahead as the game was so one sided.
The second half started as the first had ended
with Boro’ in control and looking for that vital first goal. In the first few minutes Lucas
had a one-on-one with the keeper and put another attempt over the bar. Then a Sundon goal kick went straight to Lucas who’s shot rebounded to Rakeem and his shot went over the
bar. Joseph had a cross come shot from the right saved by the keeper and after
a goal mouth scramble from the corner Sundon cleared.
After
5 mins of the second half Sundon had a rare venture in the Boro’ half and won a throw. Boro’
had enough players back but unbelievably no-one managed to get to the ball and it fell to the Sundon striker in the box.
Jake came running out as the shot came in, it defected off his legs, hit the post and
with Harry & Harrison both on the floor there were two Sundon
players free to knock the rebound into the empty net!
Boro’ didn’t deserve to be behind and Rakeem whistled a shot just past the
post straight from the kick-off. Harry & Joseph
also had goal attempts from corners. Sundon, buoyed from their goal also had a couple of chances which
Jake dealt with well. Harry had a shot across
the face of goal and the equaliser came from the second of Rakeem’s searching runs after
he had hit the post with the first.
It was
all Boro but Sundon had a couple of chances, one was a great shot which whistled past the post, from a ball knocked in from
free kick on the halfway line. With a couple of minutes left Joseph found
himself through and tried a lovely left foot lob over the goalkeeper but it went agonisingly over the top.
In the last minute the Sundon Keeper took a weak goal kick, Rakeem intercepted it, dribbled it round him and slotted the ball home into the bottom corner for a
well deserved victory for the Dragons.

4 Luton Borough Dragons Whites
3 (U9 League Cup - Group D)
A disappointing start to the season given the great showing at the pre-season tournament.
Eaton
Bray were always the better team and could have won more comfortably. Many of the Boro' team played well below par,
which gave EB too much space in the centre of the pitch. Only a hat-trick from Rakeem saved
the team from a heavy defeat.
