Match Reports

Sacred Heart Rovers
Away 01-05-10
With this our last game of the season and against last weeks opponent Sacred Heart, LBW just had this last game to play to end the season on a high. After last week’s victory against Sacred Heart, they were after some pay back. LBW got the game under way and straight away, manager Tony Aina knew this was going to be a hard battle. LBW were for a short while the stronger team but quite quickly Sacred Heart grew with strength and was making LBW defenders work hard. LBW mounted quite a few attacks but between Mayowa Williams and Samir Khan they kept hitting the post, were just wide or Sacred Heart keeper made some great saves. It was about 15 minuets into the game when a cross from Jonas Kalonda was chested into the goal by Samir Khan. The whistle for the first half went with LBW leading 1 – 0. Sacred Heart got the 2nd half under way and the high tempo game got under way again. There was plenty of end to end action but LBW just had the slight upper hand, forcing the Sacred Heart keeper into making some great saves or hitting the goal posts. LBW did eventually score a 2nd through Mayowa Williams. Sacred kept the pressure on LBW and did get a goal back. And they kept that pressure on all the way to the end and LBW were happy to hear that final whistle. A good all-round strong performance by the team to end the season on. Well done to all. Mom went to Samir Khan.

Sacred Heart Rover

With only 2 games left, and both against Sacred Heart, LBW had to prove to themselves that they had got over last weeks game against Bushmead and that it was only a temporary laps. With LBW winning the toss captain, Deakon Craddock chose to kick off. The conditions were great for a Saturday mornings game of football. We got the game under way and it showed straight from the off, that LBW had got over last weeks terrible result. It wasn’t long before LBW, through Aron, went 1 up. Sacred responded fairly quickly to get back to 1 each. That didn’t worry the LBW players and from the restart LBW got another goal back. By the end of the 1st half LBW were leading 3 – 1. Sacred Heart got the 2nd half under way and they had no plans of giving this game up and made LBW work for their eventual win. Aron managed to score another to get his hat trick. Leon Chambers, also getting a hat trick and Mayowa Williams also added to the scoring making the final score 7 – 1 to LBW. A good all-round strong performance by the team, a great come back from last week. But beware Sacred Heart will be looking for revenge next week. Mom went to Leon Chambers.

Bushmead Rovers
Away 17-04-10
Our last encounter with Bushmead, LBW played very well, probably one of our greatest games this season, and if LBW were to lose their 10 game undefeated record, then Bushmead could be the team to do it. But who was to know what was going to happen when the ref signaled the start of the game and LBW kicked off. Bushmead never gave LBW any time on the ball; they even scored within the 1st minute. In fact Bushmead beat LBW 13 – 0 on the day and we only had ourselves to blame. Bushmead did play well and were comfortable winners but with the lack of team work and effort from our players, they looked a lot better than they actually were. I think I said enough on the day after the game, so won’t be going over what I had already said. I just hope that all the players learn from this and move forward. Mom went to Mayowa Williams.

Sundon Athletic
Away 27-03-10
Our last encounter with Sundon, LBW were comfortable winners and with 3 games left in the season, not including this one, LBW had to be on their guard if they wanted that unbeaten record to carry on. With Sundon getting the game under way, both teams went about trying to win this game. In fact both teams were playing at about the same level, in fact LBW were not quite as sharp as the week before against Bushmead. It took LBW a while to get the slight upper hand when Mayowa’s scuffed shoot trickled in between the Sundon’s keeper legs. LBW were slowly growing with confidence but not enough to stop Sundon as they mounted attacks of their own which keeper, Deakon Craddock, dealt with confidently. Just before half time Leon Chambers scored to make it 2 – 0. It was LBW who got the 2nd half under way. There wasn’t much between both teams in the 2nd half with Sundon not allowing LBW to get on top. Sundon though were growing slowly with confidence and giving LBW a run for their money. With 5 mins to go Lewis Dyer crossed the ball into the box from the half way line. It seemed to miss everyone in the penalty area and the keeper, who had a superb game, misread the bounce and the ball bounced over his hands. Both teams played out the last remaining minuets of the game. The game finished 3 – 0 to LBW and yet another unbeaten game and the record goes on. Well done guys a fab performance. Scorers were Aron, Leon and Lewis Mom went to Dean Dodworth.

Sundon Park Ranges Warriors
Home 20-03-10
After our last encounter with Sundon, LBW got a bit carried away on the goal scoring front so no doubt Sundon were after some pay back. Sundon got the first half under way and LBW were not going to give Sundon a chance and it didn’t take long before LBW went 1 up from a Tom Giles strike. Even straight from the restart LBW were all over the Sundon players like a rash not giving them time on the ball. It was 10 mins in the 1st half when Tom struck again. Sundon got the game underway again and tried to put pressure on our defense but LBW were up to the challenge and kept Sundon at bay. The ref signaled the end of the 1st half with LBW in the lead by 2 goals. With manager, Tony Aina, happy with LBW’s work rate, there was nothing for him to say but for more of the same. LBW got the 2nd half under way and resumed from were they left of in the 1st half, it was 5 mins before Aron scored his 1st. Sundon tried to get a goal back and credit to them they tried and sometimes gave Ben a few things to do. But LBW stood firm and 10 mins into the 2nd half Aron scored again, in fact he was to score one more time to make it his hat trick and LBW 5th goal. The ref blew his whistle to signal full time and LBW’s 9th unbeaten game. Well done guys a fab performance. Scorers were Aron and Tom, mom went to Tom Giles.

Bushmead Rovers
Home 13-03-10
After last week’s win against local derby rivals Crawley Grn Aces, LBW next and toughest challenge was against Bushmead Rovers who are undefeated this season. This was going to be LBW’s toughest test to see how far the team has come. With Bushmead getting the game under way they went about their way trying to make us their next victim. But LBW learnt a few things from the previous week which seemed to be working. Although Bushmead had the upper hand LBW stood firm defending well and mounting an attack or two of their own. It was Bushmead who scored the first goal and where most teams buckled and let Bushmead over power them, LBW showed that they had grown in confidence and were determined not to let Bushmead run away with the scoring. First half finished 1 – 0 to Bushmead. LBW got the second have under way and with plenty of determination to get a goal back, but it wasn’t going to be easy. With Bushmead counter attacking our every attack, so LBW had to be on their guard. With 5 mins to go, LBW were mounting an attack when Jonas was tackled from behind in the penalty box. LBW were awarded the penalty. Jonas stepped up and coolly and calmly put the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Bushmead tried hard to get that winner but LBW held out. The game ended 1 – 1. Although only a draw it was a much better performance than against Crawley Grn Aces, it was a hard fought game. Well done guys a fab performance. Scorer was Jonas and mom Deakon Craddock.

Crawley Grn Aces
Away 06-03-10
After LBW last encounter with Crawley, LBW first half was not great but came out in the 2nd half and redeemed themselves and almost won the game. Manager Tony Aina and his players knew they had a tuff game ahead of them. With Crawley winning the toss they elected to kick off and LBW choose to kick up hill. So Crawley got the game under way and straight from the off were probing for a weakness in our defense. But LBW were not going to let them hustle them and they had plans of their own and were starting to hustle Crawley back into their own half. Crawley was gaining in confidence and was starting to move the ball around the pitch well. So it came as shock to the Crawley managers when LBW mounted an attack and Crawley were unable to clear and LBW punished them as Melisa Filis found the back of the net. Crawley tried to equalize but LBW kept them at bay, ending the 1st half 1 – 0. LBW got the 2nd half under way and straight from the off Crawley pounced on LBW players like tigers. They were not giving LBW any time or room keeping LBW in their own half. LBW were starting to get pulled apart and looking a bit ragged. Where last week keeper Ben Challis did not have much to do but this week Ben was working overtime. Crawley was firing shots from every angle but either Ben, or now and again, the goal posts got in the way. There were a few times were LBW did get out of their own half but didn’t really threaten the Crawley goalie until with 5 mins to go Crawley were mounting another attack which broke down after LBW got the ball and with a great pass to Mayowa he coolly put it away to make it 2 – 0. Crawley did try in vain to get one back but LBW held out until full time and were glad to hear the ref’s whistle. The final score was 2 – 0 to LBW. Manager Tony was happy with the score and LBW still are unbeaten winning 6 games on the trot, but not really with their play but they did play with plenty of spirit. Crawley headed home wondering what went wrong and with their tails between their legs. Scorers were Melisa & Mayowa. Mom went to Ben Challis who had a superb game.

E.B.Lions Reds
Away 27-02-10
With LBW squad up to full strength, manager Tony Aina was confident that his squad could make this fifth straight win. But they had Eaton Bray and some hard work to deal with first. With the game under way LBW knew they had a battle on their hands. LBW were not really making it easy for themselves and they seem to be struggling a bit and Eaton Bray were taking advantage of this by putting pressure on our defense but LBW defenders dealt with it well. It was 11 minutes into the first half when Leon made the break through for LBW. Eaton Bray never gave up and kept the pressure on LBW and it eventually paid off with a few minutes to spare they got one back to finish the first half 1 – 1. With a slight tactical change and a team talk LBW went on for the second half with plenty of vigour. Eaton Bray got the second half under way. LBW were not giving Eaton much time or room to play and forcing Eaton Bray into mistakes and taking full advantage by scoring another 4 goals in the second half. It was a much better half from LBW with keeper Ben Challis not really having much to do. Eaton Bray did try but to no effect. With the ref blowing for full time and LBW fifth win the final score was 5 – 1 to LBW. That’s 5 games on the trot lets keep this going. Scorers were Leon, Aron, Jonas and Mayowa. Mom went to Jonas Kalonda.

Sundon Park Rangers Warriors
Away 20-02-10
LBW started this game with only 6 players and for the first 5 minutes were passing the ball about really well. If it wasn’t the Sundon keeper stopping the ball from going in, the goal posts stopped a few as well. So it came as a bit of a shock when Sundon scored first. LBW did not let that get them down and soon picked up from where they left off. It only took 3 minutes before they equalized and then the flood gates opened. Jonas turned up after 15 minutes, taking us to full strength, but by then we had already scored 4 and that’s how the first half finished, 4 – 1. When the game got under way, the flood gates continued with everyone having a go. There were as many misses as there were goals so we could have really buried Sundon. It didn’t all go LBW way with Sundon mounting some attacks but LBW dealt with them well, although they did manage to score one more goal before full time. By the time the final whistle went the only two who didn’t score were the goalie, Deakon Craddock, and Lewis Dyer who just couldn’t get his shots on target but did help others score with some great passing. Well done team you all played well. That’s 4 games on the trot lets keep this going. Scorers were Melisa, Leon, Tom, Samir and Jonas. Would’ve been easier if I named the people who didn’t score. Mom went to Samir Khan.

St Joe’s
Home 06-02-10
After last weeks tough win against Crawley Grn Comets, LBW were up against another tough side. St Joe’s won their last encounter with LBW, so LBW were after some pay back. It was a cold misty morning and St Joe’s got the game under way. With LBW’s 8 versus St Joe’s 11 manager Tony Aina was praying that fitness and injuries was not going to be an issue with his players. With Deakon Craddock in goal for Ben Challis, who was on international duties, and his second time in goal for LBW, he played really well. He did not have a great deal to do because of some great defending from Dean, Lewis and Aron, but when he had to he made some great saves. We mustn’t forget the mid trio of Tom, Leon and Melisa who were passing the ball well amongst themselves and to Mayowa who was our striker. The first half was end to end action from both teams. Mayowa opened the scoring but St Joe’s soon got one back. Few minutes later Leon struck to make it 2 – 1, but just before the half time whistle St Joe’s equalized to end the first half 2 – 2. Second half was just as good but with St Joe’s kicking down hill they had a slight upper hand which they just could not put to good use. With minutes to spare LBW were awarded a free kick which Mayowa took and scored. St Joe’s tried to get one back but time run out and the game ended 3 – 2 to LBW and their second win this year. Great game to watch and hope we can win our next game and make 3 on the trot.. Scorers were Leon and Mayowa. Mom went to Mayowa Williams.

Crawley Grn Comets
Home 23-01-10
With this being the first game of the New Year it looked like the team needed a good run out and were eager to get started. After losing their first game against Crawley Grn, LBW were hoping to get one back on them and start the New Year on a high. Crawley got the game under way and seemed like they wanted to make this their 2nd win against LBW. They seemed more organized than LBW and it showed when they went 1 – 0 up after 5 minuets. But LBW were not going to give up and came out flying on the restart. Although LBW were not as organized as Crawley Grn there was plenty of effort and fight and that’s what we needed and it eventually paid off, when just before half time Aron scored to finish the 1st half 1 – 1. With team talk over LBW got the 2nd half under way. There was a bit more shape to LBW but they still had lots of fight in them. Considering LBW was kicking up hill in the 2nd half we were starting to put Crawley under a bit of pressure. It was 10 mins into the 2nd half when a well worked pass from defense ended up at Leon’s feet and there’s only one place that ball was going, straight in the goal. Both teams were playing well and it was a enjoyable game to watch. In fact it wasn’t long before LBW scored again to make it 3 – 1. Crawley Grn did get one back just before full time, but it wasn’t enough and LBW won 3 – 2. For the first game after not playing for a few weeks LBW did really well. Like I said we did not have much shape to our game but we had plenty of effort and fight. Great game to watch and hope we can carry this on to the next game. Scorers were Aron Gjonpjetri & Leon Chamber. Mom went to Aron Gjonpjetri.

Sundon Athletic
Home 12-12-09
With this being the last game of 2009, LBW were hopping to finish on a high. Sundon got the game under way; with neither team taking charge there was plenty of end to end action. LBW were eventually taking charge but it was Sundon who struck first going 1 up. It was 4 minuets later before Jonas scored to make it 1 – 1. In fact Jonas scored another 3 and even Dean joined in scoring one himself to finish the first half 5 – 1 to LBW.  LBW restart the game and keep the pressure on Sundon. All the LBW players played their part and it wasn’t long before Aron scores another goal to make it 6 – 1. Sundon never gave up and kept up the pressure and they kept Ben fairly busy but they eventually scored to bring it back to 6 – 2. Before the game was over Aron and Leon managed to score another goal each to end the game 8 – 2 winners. Manager Tony Aina was pleased with the way the team played and they deserved the win and it was a great way to finish the year, can’t wait for 2010. Scorers were Jonas Kalonda, Aron Gjonpjetri, Dean Dodworth & Leon Chambers. Mom went to Melisa Filis.

Crawley Green Aces
Away 29-11-09
After last weeks 1st win, manager Tony Aina was confident that LBW would get their 2nd @ this local derby game against Crawley. LBW got the game under way but it was Crawley Green who dictated the game right from the start. It was 7 mins in when they scored their 1st goal. LBW had no response to Crawley Greens attacks in fact they offered no resistance and were spectators in the 1st half. First half finished with Crawley Green winning 4 – 0. Manager Tony Aina was fuming with the LBW players not making hardly any tackles and not closing down Crawley Green’s players. So after a stern talk LBW came out for the 2nd half with pride to play for. And play they did as they challenged for the ball and won some great tackles. With all this effort it didn’t long before LBW got their 1st goal. Although Crawley seemed more organized than LBW, LBW closed them down quickly, forcing them into mistakes. LBW got their 2nd from a goal mouth scramble and 3rd from a great strike into the top right hand corner from Leon. With some good defensive work and some great keeping, Crawley Green prevented LBW from getting the equalizer. LBW’s keeper Ben Challis was also kept busy making some outstanding saves to keep LBW with some chance of a win. The game ended with LBW winning the 2nd half but Crawley winning 4 – 3. It was a much better half for LBW. Scorers were Leon Chambers and Jonas Kalonda. Mom went to Ben Challis. Much better 2nd half with plenty still to do.

E.B.Lion Reds
Home 14-11-09
LBW were still looking for that 1st elusive win. LBW were at home to E.B.Lions and were expecting a tuff game. It was a sunny blustery winter’s day and LBW got the game under way. LBW started well with the slight advantage attacking the E.B defense but unable to get through. E.B.Lions were growing in confidence and were quick on the counter attack but LBW defense stood strong but there was only so much they could do before an LBW error allowed E.B to score. That first goal seemed to wake LBW up and it wasn’t long before Aron equalized to end the 1st half 1-1. After a tactic chat with manager Tony Aina, LBW came out fighting and fight they did, cause it wasn’t long before Leon Chambers scored to make it 2 - 1. In fact Leon scored another 2 times to get his hat trick and LBW 1st league win. It was not an easy game as the score suggest in fact E.B.Lions fought to the very end make it a great game to watch. Scorers were Aron and Leon and Mom went to Dean Dodworth. Much better game with plenty still to do, but the team is improving.

Luton Boro Blues Home 07-11-09
LBW were still searching for that 1st elusive win. LBW were at home to their arch rivals LBB. It was a sunny winter’s day and both manager set out their stall. LBW kicked off the 1st half and went about trying to score the 1st goal. But it was LBB who were taking control and seem to be creating more chances. Defenders Lewis Dyer and Deakon Craddock certainly had their hands full but handled the situation well. Ben Challis was kept busy making some great saves. There were times where LBW did pressurize LBB goal but to no avail. When a goal was scored it was LBB who scored it with the help from some confusion between the defense and the goal keeper, ending the 1st half 0 – 1. Tony Aina made a few chances bringing on new signing Jonas Kalonda. LBB got the 2nd half under way and were looking to seal this game in the bag, but a more inspired LBW had other ideas. LBW were getting stronger as the game went on, surely that goal would come soon, but LBB defenders stood strong holding back LBW attacks. In the last few minuets of play Jonas Kalonda Brook free from a tackle and with only the keeper left to beat he scored to make it 1 – 1 and that’s how the game ended.    . Scorer was Jonas Kalonda and Mom went to Deakon Craddock. Second half was much better with plenty still to do, but the team is improving

St. Joseph. Away 24-10-09
LBW went to St. Joseph looking for their 1st win. St. Joes got the 1st half under way. Both teams were not giving much away. LBW’s midfield saw plenty of action supporting our striker Leon Chambers. Both teams were giving it there all but it was LBW who opened the scoring. Unfortunately for us St. Joes managed to pull one back just before the end of the first half. LBW got the 2nd half under way. There was end to end action from both teams which was enjoyable to watch. 10 minuets into the 2nd half St. Joes scored to make it 2 – 1. That 2nd goal seemed to have knocked LBW’s confidence a bit which showed when the game got underway. LBW were creating some chances but St. Joes were creating more pressurizing LBW more and more until they scored the 3rd and final goal of the game. LBW kept trying but to no avail and the game ended 3 – 1 to St. Joseph. Scorer was Leon Chambers and Mom went to Samir, whose improving game by game. Guys’ tackling is improving but there is still the standing and watching going on, need to get this bad habit stopped.

Crawley Green Comets
Away 17-10-09
This was LBW 1st League Game. We were missing our keeper, who was on international duties, well for Luton Town and Dean who was unavailable. So manager Tony Aina used stand in keeper Deakon Craddock. Crawley Grn got the game under way. It seemed from the start that Crawley just had a bit of an edge on LBW, although on the stroke of the 6th minuet, Leon scored LBW first goal. Crawley restarted the game and was eager to level the score line. It took Crawley Grn 2 minuets to equalize. LBW restarted the game, there didn’t seem to be the eagerness from the LBW players that we had seen from the previous games and Crawley just seemed that bit stronger in the tackles which soon paid off when they scored their 2nd goal. This second goal seems to have wakened the LBW players up a bit and they seem to have a bit of urgency in their game. This soon paid off when they forced a penalty which Aron stepped up and put it into the bottom right hand corner, finishing the 2nd half 2 – 2. LBW got the 2nd half under way with the bit between their teeth, looking for that win. Both teams in 2nd half looked about equal and there was some great play from both sides. With manager shouting out orders and parents encouraging in high pitched voices, screaming, LBW players gave it there all. It was one of those games that could have gone either way, and it did but not for LBW but for Crawley Grn, they scored in the 10th minuet. LBW tried there best but with no avail. Whistle blew to signal the end of the game. A 3 – 2 win for Crawley and LBW 1st loss. Scorers were Arron & Leon. Mom went to Deakon. Unlucky guys, we need to work on tackling and there needs to be some urgency amongst some players and also not to stand and watch.

St Martins
Home 10-10-09

This was to be our third and final game in the qualifying round and a win would guarantee a place in division 1. So manager Tony Aina was eager for another win.  As soon as LBW kicked off we were causing chaos amongst the St Martins defense. With the help of midfield trio Aron, Melisa and Tom, Striker Leon Chambers soon made it 1 – 0 within 3 minuets. It was only another 40 seconds before Leon made it 2 – 0. St Martins were not lying down and started coming back @ LBW causing us some trouble but defenders Lewis Dyer and Deakon Craddock were doing well at keeping St Martins at bay, if they did get through the defense keeper Ben Challis was there to deal with it confidently. Aron and Leon added another goal each to finish the first half 4 – 0. Dean Dodworth came on for Deakon and Mayowa Williams was on for Leon, who was already on a hat trick. St Martins got the 2nd half under way and were looking for their 1st goal and had LBW in a spot of trouble. They probed our defense until they eventually got their 1st goal. LBW needed to raise the game a bit and they did with a run down the right wing from Samir Khan who finished with a cross into the box and for Leon to score and make it his fourth. Both teams managed to score another goal each to end the game 6 - 2 and 3 wins in a row for LBW.  Scorers were Arron & Leon. Mom went to Leon. Well done guys a well deserved win and a great way to end the qualifying rounds.

Sacred Heart Rovers
Home 26-09-09
With a tougher opposition expected in our second game I still have plenty of confidence that LBW would win. LBW got the game under way and it become obvious that Sacred Heart were a tougher opposition than our first game, it wasn’t long before Leon put LBW ahead. With LBW keeping their shape better and passing the ball well, Leon scored his 2nd. Keeper Ben Challis certainly had more work to do than his 1st game. Besides a few scary moments he did well. With both Arron and Tom getting on the score board and Sacred Heart scoring in the last few minutes, the 1st half finished 4 – 1. Sacred Heart got the 2nd half under way but LBW midfield forced Sacred Heart into a mistake and another goal for Leon. Defenders Lewis Dyer and Deakon Craddock were doing a great job at keeping Sacred Heart at bay. Arron, Tom and Deakon contributed to the score tally, to end the game with an impressive 8 – 1 victory. LBW were made to work hard for this victory but they did it well and with plenty of confidence which is growing within the team. Goal scorers were Arron, Leon, Deakon and Tom. Mom went to Lewis Dyer. Well done to all.

Luton Borough Whites 1st Game
Eaton Bray, Away 12-09-09

Our 1st game of the season was away to Eaton Bray. It was a glorious morning and I had high hopes for my new squad of young players. With the team on the pitch LBW were eager to get started. Eaton Bray kicked off, getting the season and the game under way. It soon showed how eager LBW were by not giving Eaton Bray much time on the ball and challenging well for the ball, in fact it wasn’t long, 2 minutes in fact, before Leon Chambers scored his and our first goal. In fact it was another 2 minutes before Leon scored again. Arron Gjonpjetri and Tom Giles also added to the scoring finishing the 1st half with an impressive 5 – 0 lead. The second half was no different to the 1st, with LBW dominating the game. We did have a couple of small worries but goal keeper Ben Challis dealt with them confidently. Leon and Arron finished Eaton Bray off with another 2 goals each, scoring 4 each in the game. With such a lead I was able to move players about trying them out in different positions. The game ended with LBW winning 9 – 0. There were times where the team lost its shape and times where they put some good passes together. We still need to work on some things, but I’m not taking away the fact that we had a great start to the season. Goal scorers were Arron, Leon & Tom. Mom went to Arron. Well done everybody. Great start, look fwd to the next game.

Only sad point of the morning was how late most of the parents/players were. Only 5 players were on time. I said what I had to say on the day and I hope things improve and if they don’t then I will have to take further measures.
