Luton Borough Dragons Whites 4 Eaton Bray Lions Whites
4 (U8 Sporting Conference)
Dragons dominated the early stages, Patrick
had a shot across the face of goal from a corner in the first minute and the Eaton Bray keeper tipped another of
his shots round the post. Dragons continued to press and could have taken the lead from a goal mouth scramble.
The Bray defence managed to clear only to Harry on the edge of the box, but his shot was
cleared off the line. Rakeem eventually broke the deadlock in the 6th minute when he drilled
in a good shot.
Dragons were in confident
mood and were attacking at will. Patrick took the ball down the left and crossed it
but both Orkun & Lucas missed the ball. Orkun
then had a long range effort saved by the keeper. In a rare venture into the Dragons half, Eaton Bray won
a corner. They picked out their striker who shot straight past Jake to equalise against
the run of play.
Dragons responded
with a blistering run from Orkun down the left. He deliverer a lovely cross but unfortunately
Joseph missed his kick. Two minutes before half time, Patrick
made an opportunity for himself and restored the lead when his shot was deflected past the keeper off of the defenders head.
Orkun had another fine run before half time taking it all the way into the EB area. The
keeper dived at his feet but he rounded him well and unselfishly passed for Rakeem
to claim his second and Dragons third. HT 3-1.
Brian
changed things around at half time with Jake up front and Orkun
taking the keepers gloves. Boro had good spells of possession and kept EB pinned in their own half for long spells.
A rare EB break caused confusion in the Dragon's defence with Harrison & Connor
only managing to knock the ball into the air. The loose ball fell to the EB striker and his shot was
saved well by Orkun. Encouraged by this Bray had a couple of other chances by Boro
defended well. Harrison played the ball out of defence to Patrick,
he switched it to Joseph on the other side of the pitch, who took it on and side footed it in
past the keeper to make it 4-1.
With three
minutes left EB pushed forward. Their striker turned Harry and his fierce shot went into
the bottom corner of the net for what seemed like a consolation goal. Bray advanced again forcing the
ball over the line following a goal mouth scramble - 4-3.
Bray had the bit between their teeth now and pushed forward looking for an equaliser. Dragons had less than one minute to keep them
out but were looking a bit shaken. Bray broke through the midfield and their striker managed to get past the defence
and fire in a fierce shot to level at 4-4 - unbelievable!

Luton Borough Dragons Whites 1 Eaton Bray Lions Blues
3 (U8 Sporting Conference)
The Dragons started well with lots of possession. Orkun shot
just wide and Lucas also had an early opportunity. Rakeem
made a great run from his own half, crossed for Orkun who put it narrowly wide. Joseph
then made a good break and Rakeem put his shot just over. The break through came after
9 minutes with a Rakeem run down the left, he crossed for Joseph
who knocked the ball in.
Eaton Bray hadn't
seen much of the ball but did force three corners which were defended well. Rakeem made
another great run through the middle, taking the ball round several defenders but his shot was saved by the keeper at the
near post.
All Boro's good work was undone when a
penalty was conceeded with 3 mins of the half left. Jake, seeing virtually his first action
of the match, dived the right way but couldn't keep it out. Bray were buoyed by the equaliser and shot just over
from a corner. In first half injury time Dragons pushed forward but left themselves short at back. The Eaton
Bray striker broke down the middle and with Harrison unable to catch him they took
the lead.
Needing
to chase the game in the second half, Boro had a couple of early chances. Joseph had a shot just
wide straight from the kick off. Lucas picked up a stray ball and tried to flick it
over the keeper but it was saved. Dragons were having lots of possession in the Bray half, with even Harrison getting
forward. Orkun had a great shot which the keeper only saved at the second attempt.
The visitors were still dangerous on the break
and scored their third from a corner after an earlier shot had been deflected wide.
It was not going to be Dragon's day as Orkun
put a shot from Rakeem's cross agonisingly past the post and Lucas
also shot wide.

Crawley Green Falcons
3
Luton Borough Dragons Whites 0
(U8 Sporting Conference)
Both teams started well and the game was evenly matched for the first 10 mins before Falcons
scored the first goal. Their tricky #8 had a good run, weaving through the Dragon's defence and put the ball past Jake into the bottom left hand corner. Dragons and Falcons both passed the ball well and the
the first half continued to be end to end.
Crawley got on top in the second half with Jake making a good
save and they also had a shot narrowly over the bar. Patrick had a shot and Rakeem
made a couple of good runs, to no avail. The Falcons #8 made another great run taking the ball out wide and scoring
from a narrow angle across the face of goal. Two minutes later Falcons won a corner that the Dragons defence failed
to clear and CG put away for their third.
Rakeem had a breakaway opportunity but the keeper got to it
first. Straight away, Crawley got the ball back into the Dragons danger area and Harry conceded
an unfortunate penalty. Their striker put the kick to Jake's left, he dived the right way
and pushed it past the post - great save!
Rakeem took the ball straight down the other end but was foiled
by the keeper again. Dragons also won a free kick and a corner but couldn't find a goal. Falcons had a one-on-one
with Jake who narrowed the angle well and the striker put it wide.
Joseph & Rakeem put some neat
passing together around the Falcon's box late on. They knocked the ball back to Patrick who's
last gasp shot was saved as it headed towards the top corner.

Luton Borough Dragons Whites 3
St Martins Blues
1
(U8 Sporting Conference)
St Martins had a lot of early possession, helped by the strong wind behind them in the
first half. They had a number of early corners and looked well organised but the Dragon's defence was solid with Harry & Harrison marking well. Jake made
a good save charging out of his goal to thwart a St Martins break away.
Dragons looked to press forward
when they could and Patrick had a shot just wide after 10mins. The wind was a real advantage
for St Martins and they could have scored but Jake saved their striker's shot.
The ball ran loose in the Dragons area and a massive goal mouth scramble ensued with about six Dragons and a similar
number of St Martins players trying to get the ball either clear or into the net. Jake
did very well to jump onto the ball to avert the danger.
The second half started
brilliantly as Patrick scored inside the first minute. Dragons continued to press forward
with Orkun, Rakeem & Joseph playing well.
After 7mins, Patrick broke away and rounded their keeper but a St Martins defender
cleared off the line. They could not get the ball away however and Patrick picked
up the loose ball and scored his second.
St Martins attacks were
limited but they did pull one back midway through the second half when their strikers got behind Connor
& Harrison to go 2-on-1 with Jake who made a
save from the first shot but couldn't keep out the second.
Rakeem
had an excellent breakaway chance. With only the keeper to beat, he shot into the bottom right corner and
thought he had scored - as did the supporters - but the keeper managed to make a brilliant save on the goal line.
St Martins broke into the Dragons half straight away and whistled a shot past the post.
Rakeem
had another opportunity with 5mins to go but the goalkeeper made another good save. Orkun
had a shot across the face of the goal that was deflected agonisingly wide. Patrick then
had a great shot from the resulting corner but it flew past the wrong side of the post.
It was all Dragons at this
point and Lucas had a breakaway chance. Harrison & Connor
continued to get their tackles in to keep it tight at the back.
With a couple of minutes
remaining, the referee awarded a disputed free kick on the edge of the St Martins box. Orkun
rolled the ball across to Patrick, who drilled in a shot for his hat-trick.
A great game against a strong
St Martin's team - well done boys !

Luton Borough Dragons Whites 1
Crawley Green Falcons
2
(U8 Sporting Conference)
Crawley started the game very strongly with lots of posession in the Dragons half. They
created many opportunities to score but were held off by Harry & Harrison's
good marking in defence. Jake made 3 or four excellent stops, a couple of which were courageous
double saves.
Dragons had a couple of advances into the Crawley half with
Patrick & Rakeem making some good runs. The boys managed to
keep a clean sheet until Crawley went ahead on 15mins with a good shot. They added a second fairly quickly despite Jake's heroics in goal.
After a half time team talk by Brian, Dragons appeared
brighter in the second half. Joseph, Patrick, Orkun
& Rakeem played well in the centre of the park and pressed the Crawley defence.
Crawley countered with breakaway's down the right and Harry did exceptionally well to contain their number 8 who was in great form. Crawley went close
to extending their lead a couple of times and Jake kept out a certain goal with a brilliant double
save with first his head (!) and then his hands. Rakeem covered back well, clearing
off the line.
Dragons continued to hassle the Crawley defenders with some
good passing and great footwork from Joseph and went close from a corner. The pressure eventually
paid off as Patrick pulled one back with a good high drive.
Lucas, back on for Joseph made a
couple of good runs down the right wing and Patrick could have equalised with a few minutes left
but his shot hit the post.
The defence then kept Crawley at bay until the final whistle.
A great game and team performance...one of the best games this
season.

SKF Colts

Luton Borough Dragons Whites 4
(U8 Sporting Conference)
The boys made a great start with Patrick having a good chance
early on and they went ahead with a good solo goal from Lucas. Connor
added a second on 6mins scoring direct from a corner after the keeper fumbled.
SKF pulled one back after 14mins, a one on one chance against Jake.
Patrick went close with a header and Jake made another good stop just
before half time. (HT 2-1).
The boys survived a couple of SKF chances early in the second half with Jake
pulling off a good save and a SKF shot hitting the post. Dragons composed themselves and Patrick
showed some good individual skill having one shot saved and another just wide.
The boys pressed forward forcing 5 or 6 corners in a row and nearly scored after a
goalmouth scramble. Patrick scored with a good drive after 14mins and could have
made the result safe with a solo breakaway after a rare SKF corner, just hitting the post.
Connor and Harrison kept it tight
at the back throughout the second half, limiting the SKF attacks.
Rakeem went 1-on-1 against the SKF keeper in the last minute
and secured the points for the Dragons with a great goal.

Luton Borough Dragons Whites 2
(U8 Sporting Conference)
A hard match in cold & windy conditions. Without our regular goalkeeper we conceded
four goals in the first half.
The boys played much better in the second half and managed to pull a couple of goals back,
with 2 well struck free kicks from Patrick.
Unfortunately Crawley scored a fifth with virtually the last kick of the match.

Bushmead Rovers
6
Luton Borough Dragons Whites 2
(U8 Sporting Conference)
A tough match on a near frozen pitch. The boys played fairly well against an unbeaten
Bushmead team. They went behind and trailed 1-0 for a time before Bushmead scored three more goals in quick
succession - the second being an unstoppable top corner wonder goal after a number of good saves from Jake.
Jake played out of his skin in goal in the second half and,
to the boys credit, they managed to hold the opposition to 2 goals. Patrick & James grabbed a goal each to draw the half 2-2.
