Sunday 20th June Milton Keynes City Finalists
Once again reaching
the final of a Tournament and coming home with medals.
Not the best of starts, drawing our first three games
and was even 0 - 2 down in our first game, before coming back and equalising in the last minute to make it
2 -2. Nevertheless qualifying as runners up in the group.
We coasted through our Quarter Final game, before
meeting AFC Sundon Blues in the semis. We looked to be dead and buried, when going 0 - 2 down in the first five minutes. The boys responded magnificently with a great second half performance to emerge as 6 - 2 victors.
On to the final against AFC Sundon Whites who beat us 0 - 1 in the group stage. In a very tight encounter,
we spurned some great chances to win this. At the end of normal time it was deadlocked at 0 - 0 - on
to the dreaded penalty shoot-out.
We missed our first penalty, but then Sammy saved one of theirs.Alas we
missed another one and Sundon converted the remainder to win the Tournament. We really came close to winning
this - never mind.
Fantastic performance today in very hot energy sapping conditions.

Lots
of goals scored today, the first game we scored six by six different scorers. The goal of the tournament scored
by Kyle direct from a goal kick !! the opening goal in our semi final match against Long Buckby A who beat
us in the group stage.
We faced Rugby Town Juniors in the final a team we drew 0 - 0 at the group stage. In a tight game, we went down 1 - 0 and it seemed to me the boys were tired, the ninth game in very hot conditions.
I was very proud of the whole squad, bringing home the first medals of the season

up into the Quarter Finals, losing narrowily to a impressive Histon team.
In the group stages team 1,
beating Total Football Academy 1 -0 , then going on to beat St Albans City North 3 -1. Next game beating Stamford
AFC 2 by 1 -0. They lost their last group game against a very good Panathinaikos Youth 0 -1. We ended up runners
up with 12 points to Panathinaikos who had 13 points. The boys played Crawley Green in the Quarter Final running
out comfortable 2 - 0 winners. In the semis we faced Panathinaikos again and got the same score again, narrowily

2 Barton
Rovers 3 Cup Semi Final Match
What a great game of football we got today. The boys played out of their skins
and took Barton all the way.
Any thoughts of a walk over, went out of the window, when Rockie received a long
ball over the top, and with just the keeper to beat, placed the ball out of his reach to take a early 1- 0 lead.
There were some fierce tackling going on from both teams.Barton played the ball around well and were quick
to spread the ball to the left flank - poor Andrew must have been shattered at the end with all the running and
tackling he had to do.Who else but Joe equalised for Barton, the first time he was given some space, slotting home
a shot that Sammy had no chance with. The woodwork was regularly being hit by both teams, Kyle came close on a few
occasions, I jumped thinking he had scored from a header, but it went over the bar. Sammy was making some good
saves, he also enjoyed some luck, when a fierce Barton shot hit off the bar, then rebounded off Sammys head back
over the bar !! Probaly Sammys best game of the season.
Jay was really putting himself about, he broke forward into the Barton box, he was brought down and a penalty was awarded.Kyle took the penalty, smashing the ball into
the back of the net, to regain the lead 2 - 1.
The boys came off at half time for a well deserved rest. Kicking
up the hill, we switched to playing one up front. The inevitable onslaught from Barton in the second half duly happened
- the back four were fantastic.Liam, Matthew, Ben and Andrew, with Ryan in front, competed for everything, tackles
, headers etc and were frustrating Barton.James,Dean,Nico were all doing their bit to help defend. Then Barton equalised
with about 7 minutes remaining 2 -2.
We were trying to hit Barton on the break, Rocky came close with
a shot on the turn hitting the post. Nico and Jay both had good shots saved by the Barton keeper who had a excellent
game.
We practically had everyone back defending for the last few minutes, wanting to get to extra time, when we could have a real go, kicking down the hill. Alas it was not to be, with Joe Hankins receiving a ball
over the top, Sammy having no chance with the resultant shot.
After the game a few of the Barton parents,
told me that Joes goal was offside - I have to say, from where I was he looked just on-side !It was pleasing to
hear from Andy the Barton manager at the end, on how well our boys played, in his opinion good enough to be
in the top group of teams in Division 1. Well done to Barton, wishing them well in the final.

6 Totternhoe 1 Cup Quarter Final Match
A great team performance today..
Well deserved victory today. You
would have thought we were the first division team.
We raced to a early 2 - 0 lead, both goals scored by
Rockie. He showed great pace , sprinting on to similar balls played over the top, cooly beating the keeper both times.
I remember Jay playing one of the passes.
Totternhoe scored their only goal of the game, to make it 2
-1, for once our defence not dealing woth a ball played down the middle. Our defenders were magnificent, Ben,Matt,Liam
and Andrew they really worked their socks off and were the platform for our success..
We ran away with
in the second half.Nico made it 3 -1, sliding the ball in at the back post from a Rocky corner. Our midfielders,
Kyle,Jay and James were piling forward at every opportunity. We had Ryan and Dean pulling the strings, making great passes to the front boys.James Inns then scored a hat trick within a space of 5 -7 minutes. His first a
bit lucky, deflecting a Nico shot, which I though was goal bound. No luck with the other two goals, a close up finish
and following in on the keeper from a shot. 6 - 1.
Nico almost scored , with a lovely shot hitting the post. To be honest we could have scored 10 goals today. Sammy had to be on his toes today, not many saves but plently
of balls coming into his box, which he dealt with.
A great achievement, a Division 2 team in the last
four of the cup. Hopefully whoever we play in the Semi Final, we do ourselves justice and with a performance like
today, we have every chance of progressing.

1 AFC
Sundon 2 League Match
A good team performance today..
We faced a confident Sundon side,
only needing three points from their last two games, to win the League Title.
The first half we were
kicking up the hill, and when Sundon scored in the first 5 minutes, I thought here we go again - how I hate that
slope. Sammy having no chance with a fierce shot.Essentially we had to defend this half and wait until the second half when we would be kicking down the hill. The defenders at first struggled to contain a rampant AFC Sundon,
but they perservered and got better as the half progressed. Liam and Matt in the middle were magnificent, with Ben
and Andrew on the flanks.Kyle was superb, he was everywhere ,tackling ,winning headers - doing a real team
job. Ryan was always looking to play the intelligent ball. Dean and James were trying their best to play in Jay
and Rockie, but the ball kept coming back down the hill on to our defenders. To the whole teams credit we kept
Sundon at bay and went in only one goal down. In fact we almost equalised in a goalmouth scabble, Nico smashing
the ball over the bar.
As expected we were able to put Sundon under pressure in the second half, kicking down
the hill. Not long after the restart, Jay equalised with a deftly placed shot 1- 1. Kyle pushing forward, had
a shot on the run, the ball just going past the post, with the keeper beaten. Sundon then had a period of pressure
and it was all hands on deck - I saw Rocky back helping out. Sammy was really seeing alot of the ball, running out of his box and saving some good shots.Sundon then scored a soft goal, a long ball over the top, with
the Sundon forward running in with only Sammy in front of him, scoring with a well placed shot - dissapointing to concede a goal like this - considering the way we had played up to then. 1- 2
To the boys credit they
didn't give up, taking the game to Sundon.Rocky burst into the box, but was fouled by a Sundon defender, the
ref not hesitating, awarding us a penalty. Rocky took the penalty, the keeper went the right way, making the
save. Some of our boys claim the ball went over the line - I couldn't tell from where I was standing.
I was happy with the performance and I think a draw would have been a fair result. Well done to AFC Sundon for
winning the Division.

Sunday 18th April Langford 4 Luton Borough 4 Friendly Match
A good performance considering the hot conditions and no subs today.
Kyle opened the scoring within 20 seconds of the kick off, with James making it 0 - 2 a few minutes later.
We were really on the front foot, playing the ball around quite well. Ben was in goal for Sammy, playing a back
three only with Ryan playing in front of the defenders.
Liam was leading the defence by example, both
Matthew and Andrew both really getting stuck in. The Mid Field Jay,Kyle and James were really pressing forward, but at times not getting back to defend. Langford made it 1 - 2, but almost from the kick off Rocky restored the
2 goal lead with a clinical finish to make it 1 - 3. Nico and Ryan were both getting stuck in.
The second
half was a different story, with Langford pressing from the kick off. They were man marking Kyle and Rockie, playing
long balls over the top - which caused chaos in our defence. The boys at the back were now struggling to cope with this and at times not clearing their lines - it didn't help that our mid field were slow to get back
(probaly exhausted, with the hot conditions). Strangely enough we scored the next goal courtesy of Jay to make it
1 - 4.
Langford now started to score regularly, soon making it 4 -4.We tried to change things, swapping
Kyle and Rocky and getting the back four to set their line deeper - this seemed to work.
At the end with
everything considered, I am happy with the result. We have the same old problems, the defence were solid in the
first half, but came short in the second half. Our mid field are great getting forward, but not so good getting
back to defend. The forwards tried their best, but weren't getting the best service. At times we can be brilliant, we started like a runaway train today, with some great team play, we just need to keep it going..

A good performance today, except for the first ten minutes of the second
half.
Bottom club Leagrave with only eight players were on a hiding to nothing. We can only play against what
is put in front of us. At times our boys found it hard to play a team passing game, when it was so tempting to
push forward and try and score.
Nevertheless we recorded a significant victory, and except for the start
of the second half, totally dominated the game. There were some good goals scored, from memory Kyle and Jay both scored a screamer each. One of Rockys goals. from a great Matthew pass. Also Jays header from a Kyle corner. Good
to see some boys scoring who don't normally get on the scoresheet, Ryan and Andrew. Nico man of the match today,
capped a very good performance, finishing well to score a good goal.

A real thumping today.
We started off really well, the second week
running Jay scored in the first minute to take a early lead. Leighton equalised with a soft goal, with a ball played down the middle and like last week, not dealt with by our defenders. 1 - 1. Within a few minutes we regained
the lead, with Rocky beating the on rushing keeper with a header. 2 -1. Kyle almost made it 3 -1, when clean through his shot just going wide. At this stage of the match we looked really comfortable, I was looking to push on.
That turned out to be a pipe dream, with Leighton scoring 5 more goals, in the end they looked quite comfortable.
We had a number of chances in the second half, most falling to Rocky. In one great move Rocky played a lovely pass
across the goal mouth, which Nico just missd contact for a certain goal. Well done to Sammy who saved a penalty.
Looks like we will end up third, which at the start of the season I would have taken. The boys are perhaps
tiring as we approach the end of the season. They need to get back to doing the basic things well, like passing
etc.The start of the season, we had problems in the mid field and our defence was our saviour. Now its the other
way round, the midfield is solid , with the defence having a torrid time. Thats football !!, me and John will be looking
to sort this out in our remaining few games.

Still
top of the table, after a very competive game today. A game of two halves as the say!!
The game started with
both teams trying to get the edge, but it was Bedford who looked likely to score. They were dangerous on the break,
bypasing our mid field with long balls over the top and this is how they opened the scoring, with a Bedford player
through on goal with only Sammy to beat and he placed the ball out of Sammys reach. 0 -1 .The back four were in
a real battle today, as they were under alot of pressure, our mid field were not getting to the second ball. I lost count of the number of interceptions, that Liam, Matt, Andrew and Ben made. In fact Ben made a great goal line clearance to save a certain goal. It was against the run of play, that we equalised, Jay went on a run
and space just opened up for him, he slotted a well placed shot into the corner of the net. 1 - 1 Ryan,
James,Kyle and William were now getting into the game and this resulted in now a much better team performance. Rocky
and Nico were really working their socks off, but they were being swamped by defenders.
The second half
started with Bedford pressing again, which we dealt with and in fact scored on the counter attack, with Rocky hitting
a hard low shot which the keeper couldn't hold. 2 - 1.Not long after this Rocky played a lovely pass into Jay, who lobbed the keeper to make it 3 -1. Kyle was really getting stuck in this half as were all
the mid- field.Nico had few chances to wrap the game up, but couldn't find the back of the net. We
had a anxious last few minutes due to some poor defending, leading to a Bedford goal, 3 - 2 Well happy with the result, still with a small chance of runners up in the league, just have to beat Sundon and Leighton United !!!!!

We laid seige to the EB goal, but couldn't
find a way through the mud.It was difficult for the boys to pass more than a few yards, as the ball was really
heavy (caked in mud).
Rocky had a early chance, a shot being saved by the keeper. Dean who started sub,
came on and made his mark straight away, creating two goals. He passed for both Rocky and Jay, who both finished
well.
Sammy didn't have much to do, but was quick to anything that came into the box. The back
four, Liam ,Matt, Andrew and Ben, had to really get stuck in today at times only able to clear the ball a few
feet. The same went for the mid field Kyle, James, Matty and Ryan.
There was only one team likely to win, but trying to move the ball more than a few feet was proving difficult in the mud. Rocky scored another good goal
to make it 3-0.
Nico and William were both getting stuck in and trying to play football. It was William who scored the fourth goal, showing great determination almost forcing the ball through the mud, to get it to go over the line.
Some really good individual performances today, notably Andrew, Dean and
Matthew Aina.

Looking to see if we could carry on last weeks performance , but the first
half was scrappy.
Even so, we were the team likely to score, with both Kyle and Rocky going close. I thought
Rocky had scored. but his shot hit a post, before bouncing to safety. Leighton were quick on the break, Sammy and the back four were brilliant. Liam and Matt in the middle were superb, winning tackles and headers.Ryan was
really getting involved helping Ben and Andrew who at times were being outnumbered as our midfielders were
slow to get back at times. It was Dean who opened the scoring, a powerful header from a Rocky corner.
Leighton were on the front foot at the start of the second half. I remember a great tackle interception from Liam
, when Leighton looked like they might score. James and William were both getting involved playing good balls, up to Rocky and Nico.
It was Jay who made the game safe, scoring two good goals.Quick thinking from Kyle
led to one of the goals, taking a quick throw to Jay, who found himself in front of the keeper, with a easy
finish. Rocky completed the scoring hitting a fierce shot, that the keeper found to hot to handle.

A great result today, deserving the win against Division 1 opposition to reach
the 4th round.
We took an early lead, courtesy of Rocky, scoring direct from a free kick. The lead not
lasting long with Bedford equalising within a few minutes.
In a very competitive game, we scored two great goals,
from Jay and James to take a 3 - 1 lead. The whole team was getting stuck in and Ryan playing in front of the back
four was magnificent. Liam,Matt,Andrew and Ben at the back were excellent, winning headers tackles.James,Dean
and Kyle in mid field really worked hard, as did Nico,William and Matty when they came on.
The second
half started as expected with Bedford putting us under pressure kicking down the hill. The boys really had to dig
deep to keep them out, Bedford only scoring a lucky own goal. Sammy whilst not overworked dealt with anything that came into his box.
We had a couple of good chances to extend our lead, their keeper making a couple of good
saves to deny Rocky.
I am very happy with the result and performance. The boys showed they are capable

Good to get back to playing Football. Never in danger of losing this

We started on the front foot, putting the Eagles under alot of pressure, and really we should have

in our second, playing a lovely ball across the box for James Inns to tap in.
The back four looked comfortable
Liam, Matt Ben and Andrew, but at times not playing the line but got better as the game went along. Ryan was
magnificent in front of the back four, breaking most attacks up. Jay and Dean were both playing well, spreading
the ball around, playing some good passes.William and Nico both had a good games and were really getting involved.
Rocky and Jay both scored two goals each, to put the game out of the Eagles reach. On another day Rocky could have scored half a dozen goals, but came up against a very good keeper, who made some great saves.
The Eagles didn't give up trying to hit us on the counter, but Matt ,Liam and Rocky were alert to everything,

A hit and miss performance, not one of our best. Liam out today and James
was full of cold.
We looked ragged at times, almost a team of individuals.Boys were holding on to the ball to long or being greedy. If we play like this next week, we will get hammered.
We started on the front
foot , kicking up the hill, Kyle has a good chance, but sliced his shot. Bedford started to get the ball in to our half and the back three coped quite well. Matt Aina, captain today, led by example, really getting stuck in
,ably supported by Sammy,Ben ,Andrew and William.
Rocky opened the scoring finishing of a lovely pass
from Kyle, 1- 0. Jay doubled the lead with a cracking shot, which went into the corner of the net. 2 - 0. We started
to dominate the game, but seemed unable to turn pressure into goals - not using the space.
The second
half was frustrating , again dominating with nothing to show. James and Ryan were playing some good passes up to the forwards as did Nico.Matty C was getting stuck in.Dean had a couple of good shots. Rocky found the back
of the net, going throught he middle and scoring a very good individual goal. 3 - 0

A good opportunity to try a few changes today.
Leagrave started well
and looked better than the last time we played them. They caused panic among our defenders at times and for the second week running, our defenders seemed reluctant to put the tackles in.
Luckily at the other end we were ruthless,
Rocky was on fire with some ruthless finishing. He scored four goals in the first half, all well taken goals. I remember for one of the goals a great pass in from Andrew.Nico got in on the act with a well taken goal. Leagrave
scored just before half time, William made a great save, our defenders were slow to react as the forward following
in, was able to score into a empty net. 5 -1
The second half was a repeat of the first. Sammy now in
goal for William, Ryan into Midfield. Jay played left back as Ben was not feeling very well. Ryan played very
well in this half spraying around some great passes. James and Jay were setting an example of how to tackle
and were both getting really stuck in.
James Inns got into the act with two well taken goals as did Nico
with a lovely close up finish. Kyle was working very hard trying to create something as did Dean and William.
Leagrave scored a good goal in this half, their dangerman going around a couple of our defenders and hitting
a hard shot, which Sammy done well to get his hands to, but couldn't keep it out. 8 - 2.

The boys tried their best, we had a few boys who weren't feeling 100%
Liam and Andrew.
We got a very competitive game, the game was for the taking and until the last ten minutes,
I thought we would win the game. We led for practically the whole game.
Sundon put us under pressure from
the Kick Off, the back four looked disjointed, with half hearted clearances and very little tackling being made.Nevertheless
we looked the more likelyto score, with the Sundon keeper making a number of good saves to deny Rocky. It was Rocky played in by William who made thebreakthrough a lovely strike, which the keeper had no chance 0 -1. Sundon soon equalised a soft goal from our perspective, a shot going under Sammys body. 1 -1
We took
the lead again, with a Matt Aina free kick, finding Jay who finished close up. 1- 2.
The second half
started and Sundon equalised almost from the kick off, again the failure of our defenders to put a tackle in and
Sammy perhaps should have done better with the shot. 2 - 2
Matthew Caldbeck who had just come on, scored from a Rocky corner a lovely finish, to give us the lead again 2 - 3. The lead didn't last long, it really started
to rain hard and AFC stepped up a gear, scoring three goals, including one great strike, which Sammy had no chance
with.
The boys didn't give up Kyle,Nico, Dean and James reallytrying to take the game to Sundon but couldn't find the breakthrough.
At the end Sundon looked really strong and deserved the win. I feel if we played
as we played last week we would have won the game. We led all the way through the game. For once, our back four
looked weak at times, not putting in the tackles and perhaps two of the goals should have been saved.
As some of the boys didn't feel well, this would obviously affect their performance.
The good thing
about todays game, is for most of the game we were not outclassed and competed very well.I would like to think that we could beat them, the next time we play.

What a performance we got today. The boys were magnificent, the team play, at times was breathtaking.
The first half was more even than the second, even so we looked
the team more likely to score. It looked like Rocky was going to open the scoring, with a one on one with the Keeper,
who dived well to deny Rocky. Matty Caldbeck also came close with a header, just going wide of the post. The boys
havestarted to put into practise some of the things we have been asking them at training, which was very pleasing. They
were looking to play the ball around, instead of trying to do everything themselves.
William in today for
Sammy in goal, most probaly thought he was in for a torrid time, against the League leaders, he was never troubled.
He was quick off his line when needed and his kicking was spot on - well done William !! Once again the back four
Andrew, Ben,Matthew and Liam were suberb, practically winning all the tackles, headers etc, as did Ryan when he
replaced Andrew.
We ran away with it in the second half, I lost count of the number of times we hit the woodwork
ie Kyle,Rocky and Jay. After hitting the woodwork a few times, it was James who opened the scoring, James who had
a very good game, slotted a shot into the left corner 1 - 0. It was a Kyle special that gave us the second goal,
smashing a fierce, well placed shot into the back of the net. 2 - 0
Leighton heads now dropped, and we swarmed
forward in search of more goals. Nico and Dean were both playing well, it was Dean who played Rocky in for the third goal, a great finish 3 - 0. Rocky deserved this goal, he didn't stop running all game, he was a constant
threat, most of our good moves involved Rocky, he linked well with Dean and Nico. Kyle who was having a storming
game, scored his second, a weak shot beating the keeper. 4 - 0 How Kyle didn't get his well deserved hat
trick is beyond me, he was really battling and nearly scored another two goals in the last few minutes - well done
Kyle!!
We have a tough game next week, but if we play like we did today, I would fancy our chances.

A good workman like display from the boys recording a comfortable victory.
We
took the lead within the first 10 minutes, with a good finish close up from Jay. We added a further 2 goals in this
half, coming from Kyle and Rocky. EB Lions scored their only game of the match, just before half time - a sloppy
goal to give away. 3 -1
I was very happy with the second half performance, defending down the slope. We
looked really comfortable, restricting EB Lions to a few chances and that was only in the last few minutes. The
back four Liam,Andrew, Ben and Matt were magnificent.Matt took the opportunity to push forward on a few occasions,
which was good to see.
We scored another three goals, courtesy of Kyle, Dean and William - all well taken
goals. Playing a flat midfield today, I was happy with the improvement, thanks to Matty, James, Kyle,Ryan Jay,
Nico and William - they all worked hard ,up and down the pitch.

What awful weather today, not for the
faint hearted !!
The first half was pretty even, with both teams competing battling for every ball. We looked
dangerous from corners almost scoring on a few occasions, but alas it was Leighton who broke the deadlock, a good
finish just beating Sammy at the near post.
To our boys credit the heads did not go down, they kept on
battling. We scored a good equaliser from a Rocky corner, the ball coming to Nico on the far post, who slid the ball
into the back of the net.
The back four for the second week running were put under alot of pressure and I
thought they were magnificent, Matt,Liam, Ben and especially Andrew who had a suberb game. Rocky came close a shot hitting the post and bouncing to safety.
The second half ,our mid fielders began to tire, with Leighton
exploiting the gaps, but we kept them out. William, Jay, James, Kyle, Ryan and Dean were trying their
best to feed the forwards, but then it was no surprise that Leighton scored again (the winning goal), a powerful
shot beating Sammy.
Sammy had to make a couple of good saves to keep us in touch.Matt Aina, made a couple
of good forward runs, which almost lead to something - more of this Matt !!
The boys came off soaked
and exhausted, they gave their all, we cannot ask anymore from them, at the end of the day, narrow losers.

The winning run ends.......
We knew this would be a test,
to judge how good we are. We weren't good enough and to be honest after our performances the last few weeks,
I am not surprised. Our Mid Fielders with the exception of Ryan are not getting back to support our defenders,
so at times we are being overrun.
Bedford whilst not the best team in the world, were well organised
and came to compete.
The first half was pretty even, Bedford going in front twice and both times we showed
great resilience to equalise within a few minutes, courtesy of Rocky and Jay.
We finished the first half
strongly and deservedly taking the lead from a Jay header. 3 - 2.
We started the second half pressing Bedford
trying to extend the lead, looking quite comfortable. Then Bedford started to press us, scoring three goals, of which two should have been cleared/saved. It is really frustrating conceding goals in this fashion.
We
were now chasing the game and Kyle scored a lovley goal, placing his shot in the corner of the net, but this was
all to late with only seconds on the clock. 4 - 5
There were some excellent individual performances. Liam
and Matt Aina really worked their socks off, both having great games, ably supported by the full backs Ben &
Andrew. Rocky and Nico looked dangerous at times but without a goal to show for their efforts. Both Jay and Kyle had good games, especially in the first half.

The winning run continues , but once again
not a great team performance. The boys looked edgy to start with, especially the back four. They
seemed to have trouble clearing their lines and getting distance with their clearances.
I changed the
formation with Hoppy playing in front of the back four and with Dean playing behind the two strikers, which worked
really well. Ryan was spraying around some good passes and Dean was really getting involved, having his best
game of the season.
After missing a few chances and hitting the woodwork, we took the lead, through a good
finish from Rocky. Dean then extended the lead to 2 - 0, with another good finish. The goal of the match came from
James Inns. The build up started right in front of where I was standing. Nico received the ball on the
half way line, and went on a great run down the right flank. He beat a few players before cutting in and
playing a beautiful pass into Kyle. Then Kyle unselfishly looked up and played a great pass into James Inns,
who finished off a great move in style, taking a 3 - 0 lead going into half time.
We huffed and puffed in
the second half, missing countless chances to score. Our last goal came courtesy of Kyle McLeish, direct from a corner.
I was happy to come home with a clean sheet, so well done Sammy and the defenders.
It was necessary
to talk to the boys at the end, as at times they were squabbling among themselves on the pitch. Hopefully they have
all got the message, as this will be a reason for boys being substituted in future. Half Time 3

getting in good positions, missed simple tap ins or didn't even get a shot away - I couldn't believe what I was watching. In fact the opening goal was courtesy of a O.G. Rocky steadied the nerves with a good finish to make
it 2 - 0 and then soon after scoring to make it 3 -0.
Whilst scoring another three goals in the second half, Shefford scored 2 goals. Our midfield are great going forward but at times, nowhere to be seen when they should
be back defending, this has been a recurring problem this season. The defenders coped better with the slope this

The winning run continues
with a good win today. Oakley gave us our hardest game of the season so far. Playing at home for the
first time we struggled in the first half, coping with long balls down the slope. Kyle scored close up,
giving us a early lead. Oakley then equalised as they started to use the slope to their advantage. We struggled to get the hall up the hill to the front boys. Instead of long kicks, we should have passed the ball more.
The second half kicking down the hill, we played alot better, at time laying seige to their goalmouth. A
goal duly arrived , a good finished by Dean to take a 2 -1 lead, involving a number of players in the build
up, started by Ryan.Nico in chasing a ball down going to their keeper, found himself with an open goal, but
was unable to control the ball, his shot hiiting the bar - well done Nico !! Nico made amends a few minutes
later, with a good finish close up, to make it 3-1.
I was happy with the second half performance, we will have to sort out playing up the hill. Ryan Hopkins had an excellent game, playing the passes in for all
our goals.Ben was very impressive at the back, hard tackles and solid defensive headers.

We scored the first goal in the

We scored another five goals
in this half courtesy of two from Rocky, one a piece from Ryan, Dean and Andrew. All were well taken
goals, I was pleased with Ryans goal, as he followed in on the keeper and got his just rewards. Half Time 0 - 6
We only added another two goals in this half, one a piece from William and James.Williams
goal was a great strike, a well placed shot into the right hand corner of the goal.
I was dissapointed that
we didn't keep a clean sheet, with Leagrave getting a O.G from a free kick, the deflection beating Sammy.
Its hard to analyse games like this, which was so one-sided. The back four were solid again, with Andrew on top
of his game, getting back a few times to snuff out some long balls over the top.Kyle (MOM) had a great game, he
really imposed himself, in mid field and also when at right back.
We could have scored another ten goals today,
if our finishing was better - but I am not complaining, eight will do !! The second half was not as good as the
first, probaly not helped by the number of changes I made, which disrupted our performance - but it was an opportunity

A great start to the season, a game we were
never in danger of losing. We started well putting Bedford under pressure almost from the kick off. Bedford
liked to play the ball about, but we were quick to close them down putting in some hard tackling.
At times we were to frantic and anxious trying to score the first goal. The first goal came courtesy of Ryan Hopkins
a typical Ryan goal, following in on the keeper to finish close up (0-1).
I was very happy with
back four, Liam,Matthew ,Ben and Andrew, they really worked well as a unit, special thanks to Michael Hopkins
who worked with them at training. The mid- fielders were working very hard, Jay was everywhere, he never stopped
running, well supported by Ryan, William,Kyle ,Matty and James.William looked really strong and was
getting forward, on one such run hitting a hard shot which went over the bar. The forwards Dean and Rocky were
very busy, working hard trying to score.
Half Time 0 - 1
We stepped up a gear in this half, the
boys relaxed and started to play some good football.Sammy didn't have a save to make.We were dominating in
all areas of the pitch. It was only a matter of time before another goal, winning plenty of corners. We came close
on a number of occasions, Kyle almost from a free kick and Rocky on a one and one with the keeper.
Ryan
Hopkins played a lovely pass, which William let run to Kyle who was in a better postion, Kyle let fly from way out
of the area, smashing the ball into the back of the net (0-2) , I don't think the keeper saw it!!
Rocky wrapped it up scoring a well deserved goal (0-3), going on a run down the left, placing the ball hard

We
played the runners up from the other group AFC Sundon. At one stage Barton were at the side of the pitch ready to play
us, as both teams instead of having a penalty shoot out as they were level on points and goal difference, decided to award

AFC Sundon were to strong for us running out comfortable 3 - 0 winners. Some of
our boys looked tired for this game and some heads dropped when the first goal went in.
We had the disadvantage
of kicking up the hill, I presumed we had lost the toss .It was only afterwards I discovered that the home team had choice
of ends, which was us, but the ref told Liam that AFC had choice of ends!!
All this is disappointing coming
after the organisers were prepared to let Barton and AFC Sundon decide the group placings among themselves, not even a toss

Only a point needed today to be champions,
from a team who beat us 7 -1 only a few weeks ago.We decided to play safety first, with 3 midfielders and one striker - which
seemed to work. Only one team deserved to win the game and that was us, hitting the woodwork at least five times, but Olympians
were more than capable of snatching the goal to break our hearts.
The boys were magnificent today, they carried out their instructions and played exactly as was asked
for.
Sammy
the Man of the Match was outstanding, making plenty of saves and really dominating his box. Liam Kiely and Ryan Davis were
superb, they really got stuck in, marking up, winning headers and were the platform for our success. They got their bodies
in the way of everything.
Mid
Fielders Ryan Hopkins, Jay,Nathan, Clarkie were brilliant. Ryan Hopkins marking of the Olympians dangerman was superb,
enabling the other mid-fielders the freedom to get up and support the striker.
Joe, Rockie and Liam Jarvis were excellent, a hard job today,
plenty of running, playing that lone role.I thought Joe had scored winning a header from a corner, which crashed off the bar
to safety.
As already
mentioned we hit the woodwork on a number of occasions.Jay did a couple of times, but the shot of the game came from Harry,
who shot from distance and on the turn, his shot hitting the woodwork and bouncing to safety.
The time seemed to crawl in the second half, but at last

once our defenders not closing the Barton player down.A real sickner to go behind just before half time, in
a half that we were on top.
1 - 0
Some of the boys were down at half time, but we soon picked them up. What a response we got !!
Jay was instrumental in setting the first goal up, battling and not giving up on the bye-line, a
great cross for Nathan to finish, almost steering the ball into the back of the net. 1 - 1.Rocky was now on in mid field,
whilst not used to this position, he tried his best. The two Liams combined for the second goal which turned out to be the
winning goal.Liam Kiely had a shot from distance, the ball fell to Liam Jarvis, who turned a defender, scoring with a lethal
shot.
Barton now threw everything at us, even the keeper came up the
pitch.I have to admit on a few occasions, I thought they were certain to score, but a combination of good defending and perhaps
a bit of luck, we kept them out. Joe had a great chance to make the win safe, when he went on a great run, and with a one
to one with the keeper, the keeper made a great save - Joe done everything right - but denied by a great save !! I have
not mentioned Sammy so far, but to be honest, he didn't have many saves to make, his positioning was excellent and he
was quick to any balls that came into the box.
A great game,
the first time Barton have lost in 3 seasons. They competed for everything, you can never relax against them, I was relieved
to hear the final whistle. Our exhausted boys came off to well deserved cheers from the parents.
It was a shame that the victory was marred by talk of remarks shouted out to the referee -
not that I heard anything. I
thought the ref was excellent, his decision making was superb , not showing any bias to either team. I should like to remind everyone, that these referees are only
young lads and they should always be given the greatest respect.
Roll on next week, Cup Quarter Final against Sacred Heart !!!
Well
done boys.............

Sunday 18th May Chiltern Junior Sevens Tournament Luton Borough Dragons Whites -
Tournament Winners
Arrived to the news that Barton were in
our group, which I felt really focussed the boys.We duly qualified from our group winning all our games and drawing with Barton.
Scores:
Dragons
0 Barton 0 Dragons 2 St Martins Blues 1 Dragons
1 Luton United 0 Dragons 1 Crawley Green Foxes 0
We
qualified as runners up, with Barton winning the group on goal difference.
We
faced Luton Borough Reds in the Quarter Final, winning comfortably 1 -0.
On
to the Semi-Final against AFC Sundon, in a tight game winning 1 - 0 , with a rare headed goal from Joe, giving us a Final
place. Surprisingly we faced AFC Luton A in the Final , who knocked Barton out in a Penalty Shoot out.
Final
Another tight game, which we took to AFC Luton, who seemed to be playing
for a penalty shoot out.Mind you they nearly scored the winner , with Sammy somehow diving on a ball, which almost trickled
in.
The game went into extra time, and with seconds on the clock
and penalties looming, Joe scored close up to send everyone into ectasy (players, coaches and parents).
This
has been along time coming, but at last we have won a competition. This was fully deserved today, whilst not playing our best
we ground out the results.
Sammy was magnificent today,
making a great save against AFC Luton in the Final. Ryan Davis had a very good tournament and in the game against Crawley
Green done a great marking job against their danger man.Liam made some great interceptions today, with some really long
clearances. Hoppie playing in defence and Mid - Field was everywhere, getting stuck in and playing quality passes up to the
forwards.Sammy and the defenders should really be proud of themselves, only conceding 1 goal all tournament.
Nathan
Bangs in mid-field was our player of the tournament, he was everywhere, getting forward and playing some lovely passes up
to the front men. Hoppie played out of his skin, the goal he scored against St Martins giving us the victory.Harry and Clarkie
both had very good tournaments and in the Quarter Final against the Reds were instrumental in our victory.
Joe
and Rockie were a thorn in the opposition defences all tournament, running themselves into the ground.Rockie was making some
great runs and playing in some great crosses. Joe as usual scored some vital goals, especially in the Semi-Final and
Final.
Liam lifted the trophies to the cheers from everyone, each
boy having a turn, all equally being cheered. Now we have the taste of winning, lets take that forward
to the Hatters Cup next week........
Well done boys, fantastic
today !!!!
