What's this Nursery all about then? We started the Nursery back in April 2005, because we felt that throwing kids in to league football
at the tender age of 7/8 may have been a bit daunting to some. So having an hour a week when they can come down and train
and be coached and have a good time was the answer, we thought. We didn’t realise that it was going to be so popular,
but so far it has been extremely good fun for both the coaches and the kids.Every year we hold trials for Under 8 and Under 9 teams, so the aim of the Nursery kids that are in year two, is to
get in to the U8 team. We don’t give any guarantees that if a child is in the Luton Nursery, they will get a place in
the U8 team. That team is picked on merit from any kids that come to trial. What we do guarantee, is that they will have had
coaching and experience in playing actual matches against other clubs, before going to trial. They will have experienced the
discipline of keeping their position on the pitch, instead of all running after the ball. They will have experienced the feeling
of being part of a team. They will learn how to win and more importantly how to lose, and do both with Grace. If after all
that, they make the team, then Mum Dad and the coaches will be very happy. In fact they’ll be ecstatic!
If not, then we hope that they will have gained from the experience and will be able to use things learnt in their
ongoing school life. If you feel that you would like your child to join us, please contact Stewart Straker on Tel: 07786063467.
You could just turn up on a Monday night at 5pm outside at Luton Regional but ringing Stewart is preferable. Kids can join from the time they have started school up to year two.
NB. Summer Months we play outside at Luton Regional Sports Centre on a Monday evening from 5-6pm.
During the Winter months when
we don't have the light to play outside, we play indoors at Putteridge Recreation Centre on a Wednesday evening 5-6pm.

Dunstable Town 0 - Luton Borough 7
Some outstanding football from Borough saw them dominate this friendly
fixture with Dunstable Town. The quality of passing was fantastic and even surprised the coaches at times! Three goals in
quick succession from Nathan Basterfield (2) and Luca Kapadia saw Luton move ahead although Dunstable fought hard to try and
keep it that way. A goal from James Cook edged Borough further ahead and from there they went from strength to strength with
goals from Joshua Ball and another one each for Luca and James ending the match 7-0. Dunstable were unlucky in front
of goal and some excellent saves late on from Aneeq Azad and some great defending from Joshua Straker and Keiran Floyd,
helped Luton kept a clean sheet! With outstanding performances from the whole team it was more than difficult
to pick one player as Man of the Match but with some great passing, tackling, a couple of goals and a seemingly never-ending
desire to get the ball, the accolade went to Luca Kapadia... An overall brilliant team performance and a
well deserved win...well done to all of the boys!! Team:Aneeq Azad, Nathan Basterfield, Joshua Ball,
James Cook, Kieran Floyd, Haasin Hassain, Luca Kapadia, Oliver Loucaides, Joshua Straker, Oliver Trott
Sunday 18th April 2010 Sundon
Pk Rgrs 1 Luton Borough 6 Borough played outstanding passing football
to dominate this match although Sundon did gift two or three goals because of silly mistakes, that either side could have
been guilty of. A fairer scoreline would have been 3-1 given the evenness of the play. Scorers for Luton were as follows:
Luca Kapadia, James Cook 4, and Luca again. Although James scored four the Man of the Match went to Nathan Basterfield for
a masterly display in defence. Great games all round really. Little Sean Floyd played his heart out even though he's not
even year one yet. Oliver Loucaides showed great improvement with some good solid tackles. Too many good performances to mention
all of them, but tackling hard, passing the ball, and shooting well. The team had everything. Well done to all the players!
Sunday 22nd November 2009 Luton Borough 3 Firs FC 1 Borough
won this match against Firs but it wasn't easy and although Borough felt in control it was the weather that did for Firs.
Luton's boys coped a little better with the cold wind and the driving rain and just had the edge in front of goal, with
Lewis doing exceptionally well and all the boys making very good tackles when Firs had the ball. The Weather won
in the end when the game had to be abandoned, but they did manage to get through nearly thirty minutes. I'm sure the experience
will do the boys good and we look foward to playing Firs again under better conditions.
YEAR ONE'S FIRST MATCH AFC Dunstable 3 Luton Borough 3 We don't usually start
friendly matches until the kids are in Year 2 but we were approached for this match by AFC Dunstable and we thought why not?
Manager
Gordon Attwell thought they would be a little outclassed, but he said afterwards "the kids did us proud. I'm really
pleased and will try to organise another match once in to the season". The match was played in four periods of 10
minutes instead of the normal 20 mins each way. Borough got off to a confident start stroking the ball around well and possibly
taking Dunstable by surprise with the level of their play. Luca Kapadia went on a long run towards goal leaving the opposition
in his wake and scored the first with a good shot. Oliver made it two with a long shot before the break. Changes were
made all through the match in order to get all the players some experience, which is what it was all about. The second period
Borough wern't so dominant and Dunstable came back in to it well scoring a couple and levelling the score. Dunstable even
took the lead in the third period 3-2, but In the final period Borough came back again to equalise and get a well earned draw.
With honours even everyone went home happy and ready for the next match. Well done Boys!!!
FIRST MATCH JUST BRILLIANT
Dunstable Town 1 Luton Borough 1
The Nursery
side, made up of Year 2 players boosted by five Year 1 players held Dunstable Town to a marvellous 1-1 draw on Sunday 29th
March. The match was played in periods
of ten minutes each. After the first couple of periods there was still no score but Borough had been playing all the football,
with some slick passing moves. The side grew in confidence and in the third period deservedly took the lead when Samir Khan
slotted home. In the final period, borough made a small mistake which Dunstable capitalised on to draw level. Manager Gordon
Attwell said, “I was impressed after the first period as to be truthful I was expecting us to lose and I was hoping
to keep the score down, but these kids fought so well and remembered everything we had told them to not only force the draw
but were unlucky not to take the win. It was difficult trying to get fifteen players a decent amount of playing time, which
meant changing the whole team from period to period, but they took it all in their stride. I’m proud of the lot of them.” Team: James Ascott, Ben Challis, Deakon Craddock, Tom Deacon, Melisa Filis, Luke Harrison, Ryan Hawkes, Luca Kapadia, Samir
Khan, Peter Leach, Sophie Lowman, Max McKinnon, Lewis Murray, Jack Perry, Joshua Straker.
All Parents

F.A EXPLAIN DECISION ON BANNING U8 KIDS FOOTBALL
Yeah! Right! Wouldn't that be something. Wouldn't it be nice to read of a decision made
that all the people want, rather than one that just the people in charge want. The Members of this club have been
absolutely amazed by this decision. One member said, " I am really angry at this. Their are so many kids around the county
that just can't wait to get selected for a team and pull on their first Club shirt. The joy on their faces when they do
that is a pleasure to see for the parents and also the coaches and managers. Our club run a Nursery with kids expecting to
be put in to teams as from May of this year. They are all going to have to be told that they will have to wait yet another
year before they can do so. The heartache is going to be tremendous. I have been telling parents and kids about this already
and the first response always is WHY? I can't tell them the answer. I can only imagine that this decision has been
made by the same sort of do-gooders that ban Christmas Nativity plays in our Schools and Sports Days events where God forbid
there might be winner and a LOSER. We need to allow our kids the experience of finding out how to lose and indeed
how to win! They need to have this experience and the earlier in life the better. These decision makers need to see
the joy on the faces of kids when their team score a goal. Maybe then they would think twice before taking their dreams
away from them." Why not E mail the FA and let them know your thoughts!!!
TRIALS
FOR NEW TEAMS Trials have been completed for the coming season
Mums and Dads It is strongly recommended that you don’t buy Bladed football boots, as they
can cause knee damage to the wearer and cuts to other players. Some schools and clubs have already banned there use. The wearing
of goal keeper gloves with finger protection is also being looked in to as they can cause crushed knuckles.

MATCH REPORTS
Sat 17th March
61 FC 7 Luton Borough 0
The Borough Nursery team were well beaten by 61FC, although they played some good individual football.
All of our team bar a couple had not played in a competitive match before, so there was a lot of inexperience on show, but
they tried hard and never gave up. Support from the parents was fantastic and even Gordon was finding it hard to make himself
heard over the shouting. It would have been nice to have found the goal just once but it wasn’t to be. The boys enjoyed
their game and it will have helped them ready for the up and coming trials in May. Well done lads!!!
Squad:
James Harris, Ben Wiles, Louis Bush, Jayden Roper-Fisher, Ryan Bull, Jack Emerson, Daniel Coles, Conor Hughes,
James Barry, Alex Cowan, Danny Fountain and Sam O'Dell.
Harpenden 2 Luton Borough
1 Harpenden 4 Luton Borough 0
The nursery took 19 boys to Harpenden on Saturday
and although they lost both games they came away with their heads held high. Harpenden had about 50 kids there and it seemed
that every ten minutes a whole new team would appear against us. Tiredness came in to the equation in the thick mud, but both
Borough teams were determined to keep going to the end.
It was too frenetic to keep notes for a match report
but Jim Harris, Sonia Bentley and Gordon Attwell were very pleased with the way the boys played. It’s another match
under their belts and more experience gained.
Squad: First Match: James Barry, Thomas Willett, Danny Fountain, Ben Wiles, James Harris, Jayden Murray,
Lee Perry, Conor Hughes and Stefan Wells.
Squad: Second
Match: Alex Cowan, Lewis Weeden,Cameron Veazey, Jai Graves, Lucas Reesdale, Joshua Deacon, Scot Adams,
Craig Read, Mathew Bentley and Ethan Cox.

NURSERY BATTLE TO FIRST
WIN 61FC 2 Luton
Borough 3
The Nursery’s first game this season ended in success with this hard fought win over 61FC. The game
was played over four periods of ten minutes, instead of the usual 20 minutes each way. The game started with 61 doing most
of the pressing, but Luton doggedly tackled in defence and cleared the ball time and again, and James Harris in
goal stopped everything that was thrown at him. After 7 mins the pressure told when a 61 lad ran from the half way line to
score, so we went in 1-0 down at the break. In the second period, Ethan Cox equalised after only three minutes.
Luton were slowly realising that they were as good as 61 and threatened to score a second on many occasions, but
the second period ended all square and so did the third. The last period saw Tate Sperrin run the length
of the pitch to score, making it 2-1, and his reward was to be taken off and replaced by Lee Perry, who almost immediately
made it three from a pass by Joshua Deacon. Luton got a bit cocky then and everyone started to try and get forward,
which left a few gaps at the back. This was punished by a 61 shot from outside the area, which bobbled in front of James the
keeper and crept over the line to make the final score 3-2. Manager Gordon Attwell was very pleased with the performance of
all the lads in their first match and hopes it bodes well for the future. Squad: Mathew
Bentley, Ethan Cox, Joshua Deacon, Jai Graves, James Harris, Jayden Murray, Lee Perry, Tate Sperrin, Cameron Veazey, Lewis
Weeden and Stefan Wells.
