MATCH REPORTS

Sunday 2nd December

Harlington 0 Luton Borough 3

After some bad games in the past three weeks Boro finally stared to play as a team once again. Our passing and tackling was back as was our heading and we were battling harder than we did before. The only thing that let us down was we wasn' t getting in our crosses quicker than we shoul of been, but never the less it was great to see the boys enjoying there football today. Chance after chance fell Boro's way then we got the goal we needed, after some great work from Levi Yearwood he went passed there defence and slid the ball past there keeper to make boro go 1-0 up. Boro were certanily up for this and not to long they got a second after there keeper let the ball slip out of his hands from one of our shots and Ben poulton was on hand to make it 2-0 Boro. At half-time we told the boys to get the ball in the box much early than we did in the first  and not to think they had won the game yet.  With Sam tyson making a great run down the line he crossed a great ball in the box to which there keeper made a good save for only the ball to slip out of his hands again and for Charlie Jeycock to simply but the ball in the net and make Boro go 3-0 up. Man of the match went to Reece Halsey for all his hard work in defence. Well done Reece. And well done to all of the boys as you went out and played some great football and got stuck in much better than we have done.

Sunday 25th November

Clapham Colts 5 Luton Borough 1

We started this game very well. Our passing and tackling was back to its best as was our heading and talking to each other. We had a few chances to take the lead but we just didn' t have our shooting boots on. But we fnally made the breakthrough after Jamie Read hit a fantastic shot into the back of the net. But then we let Clapham back in as we just didn' t clear the ball and they scored to make it 1-1. Then  the turning point of this game. One of Claphams players had a shot cleared of the line, but to our surprise and a good 2 or 3 mins to thing about it the ref gave the goal. At half-time we told the boys to go out and forget what had happened in the first half and to go out and get the next goal. As the second half got under way we just couldn' t forget. After that we just last the plot and all the hard work in the first was undone in the second. We just didn' t get stuck in and got what we deservered a 5-1 thrashing. The only two players to play hard enough was Daniel Read in goal and Sam Tyson in midfield who took another whack in the head for all his troubles. Man of the match went to Sam Tyson for all of his very hard work in midfield an one of the few who wanted to get something out of the game. Well done Sam.

Sunday 18th November

Luton Borough 1 Flamstead 1

If last week we didnt play football  this week was just as bad. Again there was no passing no tackling it was just as if we didn' t want to play football. Sorry if this is short and sweet but there is nothing much to wright about as we didn't t seem interested at all. So to my surprise we went 1-0 up courtesy of Charlie Jeycock. As i said we where very poor today and very lucky not to lose this game aswell. There was no one named man of the match as no one stood out.

Sunday 11th November

Sundon Park Rangers 1 Luton Borough 2

Not much to say about this game apart from we were very lucky to come away with all three points. There was no tackling, no passing, no passion to play football. So to our surprise we got a goal from a great free kick from Robert Currums who passed to Charlie Jeycock who smashed the ball passed there keeper and make it 1-0 boro. With not much action from Boro we got a second goal of the game through Tony-Lee Read. Man of the match went to Jordan Smith for all his haed work in defence.  Well done Jordan

Sunday 4th November

Luton Borough 5 Barton Rovers 1

After last weeks performance this was much better. We went out and played some excellent football today. Our passing, our tackling was much, much better than last week. With all the boys up for this it was only a matter of time before we got the first goal. With Barton making the first ten minutes a tough battle, we finally made the breakthrough with Levi Yearwood adding another goal to his collection and to make it 1-0 Boro. With more and more chances going Boro' s way we added a second just before half-time with Levi Yearwood getting his second of the game and make Boro go in 2-0 up at half-time.  If the first half was good then the second was even better. With the boys heading better and passing quicker we got a third goal courtesy of Charlie Jeycock who hit a thunderous volley to make it 3-0. Our keeper Daniel Read made some excellent saves and was also getting of his line quicker than he has done in previous games. Levi Yearwood then added a fourth after he headed the ball past their keeper and to get his hat-trick. Then Boro went on to score a fifth goal after Dale Hardwick crossed an excellent ball into the box for Levi Yearwood who latched on to the cross and scored to make it 5-1 Boro.  Man of the match went to Sam Tyson who played out of his normal place in midfield and went in centre of defence and played very well indeed, getting stuck in when he needed to. Well done Sam.

Managers comments:

Very proud of the way we played today. Our passing was excellent as was our battling performance. Also we started to head the ball much better than last week. WELL DONE TO ALL THE BOYS YOU WERE EXCELLENT.

Sunday 28th October

Clifton 0 Luton Borough 3

Every team has an off day, and this was boro's off day. I know we won 3-0 but our passing and tackling was not as good as it had been. We just never got going in this game. But we got a goal and what a goal it was. Reece Halsey hit a superb shot to which their keeper had no chance of getting and to make Boro go 1-0 up.  Then with Boro not being awake Clifton were very unlucky not to pull a goal back just before half-time when they hit the post. The second half was just like the first no passing no tackling and no heading the ball. We were just not awake much today but to their credit we went on to score a second goal to which Levi Yearwood hit a great shot which crashed in of the underside of the crossbar. Then Boro wrapped up the points with another fine goal from Charlie Jeycock and give Boro a 3-0 win. Man of the match went to Ben Lubbock for only one of the boys who went out and got stuck in. Well done Ben.

Managers comments.

I was very happy with the win but very disappointed in the way we played. We never got stuck in and our passing was non existent. If we play a  better team who can finish then we would have got a real big beating today.

Sunday 14th October

Luton Borough 1 Clapham Colts 0

As both Luton and Clapham had played four and won four this was going to be our toughest test to date. Both teams made this a really great game and also a very even match to which both defences played there part extremely well. After we had created a few chances to get an early goal we just couldn't find a way past their keeper who was also on form just as our keeper Daniel Read was. Our passing was great and we were certainly getting our tackles in hard and fast. Midway through the first half the ref awarded Clapham a dubious penalty when one of the boys was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area. As everybody watched with anticipation,  up stepped one of their players and missed the penalty by putting the ball wide of Boro's goal. With the first half over we told the boys to go out and up the tempo and to pass quicker than we did in the first half. As the second half got under way both teams went at it more than they did in the first. Boro were fighting harder and wanted it more and with the game looking like it was going to be a draw, Dale Hardwick hit an unstoppable volley which flew straight over their keeper to score one of the goals of the season and make Boro go one nil up. With ten minutes left Boro still had to fight and get stuck in till the end to which they did extremely well. Man of the Match went Ben Poulton for all  his hard work and never letting Clapham have too much time on the ball. Well done Ben.

Managers Comments

Well done to all the boys, you all went out and played some great football and also got stuck in very well. To go five games unbeaten is a remarkable achievement. But we must not get too carried away yet and to keep playing and battling hard in every match we play from now  until  the end of the season.

Sunday 7th October

Flamstead 1 Luton Borough 3

Luton Borough keep up there winning ways with another great performance. The boys started the game well and nearly took the lead when Jamie read nearly chipped the ball over their keeper after five minutes but the ball just went over. With a few more chances it was only a matter of time before we got the goal we deserved. After 10 minutes we got a corner which was taken by Robert Currums to which the fell to Muzahir Shah and he made no mistake and planted the ball in the back of the net. Then Sam Tyson nearly made it 2-0 with a cracking shot from just outside the box only going inches wide. Then with some great passing and some excellent attacking football Levi Yearwood hit a low shot which hit the post but the ball rebounded to Jamie Read who followed up and scored his second goal of the season. Then our keeper Daniel Read  made a fine save to deny Flamstead a goal just before half-time and kept the score line 2-0 Borough at half time. As the second got under way we fell asleep a bit and nearly paid for it as Flamstead hit the woodwork a couple of times. Then dale Hardwick nearly scored the goal of the game with a  fine curling shot with only went inches wide. With Borough not playing as good as the first Flamstead got a goal back to make it 2-1 and a very nervous last 10 minutes. After they scored boro eventually woke up and started to play some excellent football and after a goal mouth scramble Levi Yearwood scored  to make it 3-1 Borough. Then in the last few minutes Flamstead had another chance to score but Daniel read in goal made a great save with his knees to deny them the chance. Man of the match went to Sam Tyson for all his hard work in midfield and also getting his tackles in was first class. Well done Sam.

Managers comments:

This was one of our hardest games, but the boys showed true passion and lots of pride and fighting spirit to get the result they wanted. Well done boys a truly fine performance.

Sunday 23rd September 2007

Luton Borough  5 Luton Leagrave  0

Another great performance saw Luton boro stretch there unbeaten run to three wins out of three. Before the game got under way we told the boys to go out and get stuck in from the start and to make sure we got our passing and tackling going from the off. If it wasn't for leagrave’s keeper we would have been at least 2 or 3 nil up in the first 5 minutes, but there keeper made some great saves. Finally we made the break through when our right back Reece halsey passed a great ball through to Levi yearwood who had a shot at goal but there keeper made a great save, but the ball fell to Ben poulton who made no mistake from 3yards out to make it 1-0 boro. With boro having more and more chances and playing some off the best football it was only a matter of time before we added a second. With a carbon copy off the first goal ben poulton made it 2-0 and to score his second of the game. With boro getting more and more confident and passing the ball around well, levi yearwood continued his goal scoring by adding a third with a well taken strike at goal.Just before the break we got a fourth through levi yeawood after an excellent pass from robert currums, and to also score his second of the game.

half-time 4-0 boro.

Boro stared the second half just as they did the first.More and more chances came boro's way and with jamie read going close a couple of times, he finally got of the mark.Muzahir shah passed a great ball to jamie read who watched as there keeper came running out and as jamie saw him he lopped there keeper to score a fantastic goal to end his goal drought and net his first of the goal of the season.great goal jamie keep up the hard work.We still had time to get more goals but it wasn't to be and at the end boro certainly earned all three points today. Man of the match went to reece halsey who was very commanding at right back, and also for his hard work.his great tackling and setting up one of the five goals. Well done reece. And well done to all of you.

Well done to the lads today, all of your hard work paid off and to go three matches unbeaten is a credit to all your hard work both at training and at matches. Well done lads keep up the hard work. You all played extremely well today.

Sunday 16th September

Eaton Bray   2  Luton Borough  3

This was another fine performance by all the boys. Before the start we told the lads that they would have to be strong and get stuck in from the start and that’s what they did. We had a few chances to take the lead early on but we just couldn't find a way through their keeper. With 20 mins gone Eaton had a chance to go 1-0 up but our keeper Daniel Read was in excellent form to deny Eaton bray. After some great passing Borough nearly went ahead after Levi Yearwood had a great shot saved from their keeper. We finally went 1-0 up after Daniel Read's goal kick went to Charlie Jeycock who then made a great pass to Muzahir Shah who then laid it of to levi yearwood who slid the ball into the goal and make boro go 1-0 up at the interval.

Start of second half and boro got another goal. With some excellent passing through our midfield, Levi yearwood who got four last week added another goal to make it 2-0 boro. Although boro where 2-0 up eaton bray still had chances to draw back level, but our keeper was making some great saves to deny eaton bray. With about 10 minutes left we got a third goal after some great passing from jamie read who passed the ball to Ben poulton back to Sam Tyson who crossed the ball in, and from 6yards out levi yearwood scored to make it 3-0 and also helping himself to a hat-trick for the second week running, well done Levi. With not long left boro shot themselves in the foot when we failed to clear the ball and let Eaton bray score and make it 3-1 boro. Then with about 4 minute's left eaton bray got a second after our keeper some how let the ball bounce of his body and go in to the net and make it a very nervous last few minutes, but boro held on to make it two out of two wins on the trot. Man of the match went to Daniel read who made some excellent saves although he made the blunder for there second,(never mind dan).Well done Daniel, and well done to all the boys for another well earned win.

Manager's comments:

The lads played really well today, our passing was excellent and our tackling was first class. The only bad point is where we was  trying to get to the six yard line and shoot instead of having a go early as we would of , or may of had a few more goals. But with that said you guys were excellent lets keep it going.

Saturday 9th september

Luton Borough  8    Clifton   1

This was the boys first match in the Chiltern youth league, and they certainly adapted to 11-a-side football very well. Before the game started we told the boys to go out and work hard for each other and to pass the ball around quicker and get our tackles in and not to let Clifton have much time on the ball, also we had to start talking to each other on the pitch more than we have done in pre-season. As the game got under way we nearly scored our first goal in the first few minutes, with Levi Henderson nearly opening his account. With more and more pressure on the Clifton goal we finally made the breakthrough we deserved. With some great passing the ball was slipped through their defence and Levi Henderson ran on to open the scoring and score on his debut for boro and to make it 1-0 boro.As the game went on boro were getting more and more confident and were also playing some great football. With about 10 minutes left of the first half boro added a third courtesey of sam tyson who was also making his debut for boro. Then just before half-time levi henderson grabbed his third of the game to make it 4-0 boro at half-time.At the interval we told the boys not to think that they had won the game and to go out and do exactly what they done in the first half.

SECOND HALF

The second half was just as good as the first. We upped the tempo and not to long we got a fifth after levi henderson was tripped in the area and the ref had no choice but to award a penalty to luton.Upstepped our captain josh frater and made no mistake from the spot and made it 5-0 boro. This was total football from boro, we were closing down quicker and our  one touch passing was great to see.More and more chances came our way and it was not long before we added a sixth goal to which muzahir shah also making his debut got on the score sheet. Then with one of cliftons rare attacks they got a goal back to make it 6-1.Then after some more swift passing we added a seventh goal through ben poulton who fired in a cracking shot on the edge of the area and was also making his debut. Then we went on to score again to which levi henderson helped himself to another goal and making him score 4 goals on his first game for boro.Man of the match was a very hard choice as all the boys played extremley well, but for scoring four goals on his debut it went to levi henderson.well done levi, and well done to all of you.
